Good luck! I was only able to find one dealer within 100 miles that even had any. I think this is the first week it’s on sale though, so I imagine others will start popping up over the next month
There’s only 11 within a 50 miles radius of me, I think I’ll wait a few more weeks for the shipments to actually come in.
The whole release has been a cluster. Was due in summer and still isn’t available nationwide, only in certain states because Genesis messed up the whole thing with wanting “standalone” dealers. A lot of states don’t have the paperwork submitted to sell them yet. Also, according to people on the Genesis forums dealers aren’t willing to part with these for anything other than MSRP.
Unfortunately I can’t agree with either of these 2. S3 sedan to a Golf R Hatchback?
ES350 is comparible to the Avalon in my eyes as well.
But I get what your saying!
The intrinsic point I was making was that they actually aren’t as simple as “dressed” up versions of the each other. I was trying to say that most people can look at the power train and chassis of the S3 and Golf R and say they’re the same, but they are not. Transmission choice (except for 2019 Golf R version), interior materials, layout of the vehicle are different and vary, even if they share much in common with the former and are made within the same auto group.
All I was trying to say. Performance between Golf R and S3 is pretty close, though. I would take Golf R over S3 for manual option and the hatch, personally. That’s just me, though.
An ES350 is a dressed up Camry, while the Q50 isn’t related to the Altima platform.
An es350 is not a dressed up Camry. The ride quality is worldly different.
Good lord how tall are your kids? I’m 6’2” and can EASILY sit behind myself in my 3er. Insufficient as in your kids can kick your seat back if they try?
Correct it’s now a dressed up Avalon.
Sincere question, what is the Q50 based on? I’m not too well versed on Nissan architecture. Still using the VQ37?
The Q50 is unique to Infiniti. They’re using a VR30 twin turbo engine. Other parts of their lineup do share a lot of traits with Nissans, but not the Q50
While I get your point, this is technically incorrect, as they are on 2 completely different platforms.
EDIT: Didn’t mean to pile on…reading on my phone + didn’t see @max_g beat me to the punch.
ES350 has been based on Avalon since the previous model
+1 on this one.
I read so many people not having enough room in their cars…
I am 6’0 my friends are 6’2 and they can manage 30 minute rides in my c300 coupe fairly easily (not that it’s super comfortable, but still)
Current (MY19) ES is on the TNGA/Camry platform.
Avalon is also on the TNGA platform.
I agree, and can sit in the back of mine fine. However, getting the rear facing car seat in the back doesn’t give me much room to extend my seat back. I’m only 5’8, so I have room, but cutting close.
Platform sharing is nothing to be ashamed of (it’s what allows OEMs to build more models), but there’s nothing subjective about it. It’s not in the eye of the beholder.
And body style has nothing to do with it. You can build a FWD 2dr hatch, a 4dr hatch, a wagon, a 4dr sedan, a 2dr coupe, and/or a 4dr AWD crossover off the same platform. And they do.
One thing to remember is these dealers are selling Genesis, so any knock on the brand or car, even if you tell them its not worth that much money, they might take it personally. They count on the brand and cars being good and thought of highly to let them make a living.
But that is also fantasy. Genesis is stepping into the ring with the C-Class and 3 Series, probably the most established cars in any segment beyond the Corolla and Civic. And dealers think that they can charge a premium because it is new? No you get to do that when your brand and model is established. They need to be aggressive here to get people to switch. And the estimated residuals, and the current resale values of the other genesis cars (G90 this is on you) tell us the market thinks that the cars are priced too high.
Genesis for me was supposed to be similar to Hyundai, value oriented but in the luxury segment. But that is not the case with the pricing. I think they made a mistake with the G80 as that thing looks like a pretty Sonata. I have a Sonata and hopped into a G80 and it felt oddly familiar.

Who cares if they do?

And dealers think that they can charge a premium because it is new?
Why wouldn’t they? Every other brand out there charges a premium on a brand new or redesigned car. They’ll milk it for as long as they can, and slowly start to lower pricing, or the cars will just sit and rot on the lot.
They’re like 5’6" and 5’3" maybe - but still growing. All I know is we sat in a recent 4-door M3, and I put the seat back to where I’d like it (I’m 6’1", but long legs and like seats REALLY far back) and it just didn’t work… Sure, for 15 minute rides to school, maybe, but I want a car we can actually take on an all-day excursion so that I don’t have to drive the minivan - and one that’s fun for Auto-X, etc…
