2019 Crosstrek Limited Trim Lease Offer

Been looking at the Crosstrek Limited trim for a few months now. Received this lease offer via text this morning, after walking out of a dealership yesterday afternoon because I got the sense they weren’t being genuine.

Just wondering what you all think. This is my first post, so still trying to learn. Appreciate any insights. Thanks!

That’s awful.

Why does one possibly need a maintenance plan on a Subaru?

What is line 31?

I agree with the maintenance plan, why get it on a Subaru? Idk where you are located but a bunch of dealers around the VA area even offer oil changes for life.

But see: 2019 Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i Limited Great Residual, Poor Money Factor and https://www.subaruxvforum.com/threads/2019-owners-what-did-you-pay.170040/

Looks like people are getting 10-12% off MSRP, so I’d try to push for another 1k off which will make you have to put 300 down (this is subtracting the maintenance plan and the 1K). Although the residual and MF look nice for a Subaru, considering they don’t have there own leasing branch.

Let us know what you end up with, if theres more dealers in your area then email around trying to get the same numbers but $1k+ off.

so i told the dealer i did not need the maintenance and asked what he could do about lowering my down payment.

he initially replied that without maintenance my price would bump up to $28,770 and the capped fee (line 13) would increase to $595.

then he replied later that he “spoke” to his manager and that they could do $1500 down and without maintenance for the same monthly of $345. when I asked him to get me down to $27k, he said that he couldn’t on this car.

I sent this lease offer to several other subie dealerships in the socal area and one recently replied back with the following: (let me know what you all think)

Crosstrek
M.S.R.P - $ 29,397
Your Sale Price - $26,941
Acquisition Fee - $295
State Tire Fee - $8.75
Dmv Fee - $424

On approved tier one credit, 10k miles/year
$1500 TOTAL out of pocket
35 payments of $293.91 before tax, $321.83 including tax

Thoughts?

Wait, he wants to charge you more for removing the maintenance package?

Well the discount you’re getting from the first guy is better with an MSRP of 31 versus 29. So I’d either go with the first one and you can decide on whether the maintenance plan is worth the 300 extra because that’s probably what it cost is 295 and they mark it up 300. But if the maintenance plan includes a good bit it maybe worth it since oil changes are like 50-70 since it’s synthetic. And it might include filter etc.

But if it’s the car you want, is it worth it to you? 1k is about 20-30 bucks off per month. So keep trying and maybe they can meet you in the middle.

Don’t pay over $300/mo for a 2.0 normally aspirated 4 banger with a CVT! Just don’t do it!

Reach out by email to other dealers in your state even if it’s 100 miles away.
Get the lowest quote and use it as leverage against local dealer to beat the price.
Ask for quote with no money down, just plates transfer and nothing extra like maintenance plan or extra warranty unless it’s free plan.

so i forgot to include that the first lease offer is a limited pkg 23 (moonroof+navigation+speakers) and the second offer is a limited pkg 21 (standard model).

the car is for my 5’5 wife who wants power seats; so that is the only reason we are considering the limited trim.

thanks for the helpful comment. i do plan on reaching out to a few more dealers here. appreciate you spelling it out for me on what specifically to ask for when requesting a quote.

just really felt like the sales guy at my local dealership was attempting to hoodwink me. so i have no problem going elsewhere.

Based on the price it is likely the 2 year scheduled maintenance plan from Subaru which covers 4 oil changes, 2 tire rotations, cabin air filter, engine air filter and gets you a $500 coupon toward the purchase of your next new Subaru.

@rubbergash

Curious to know if you can beat the above lease offer (second) I received for a Limited pkg 21. Thanks!

If youre better with the second one then try to fight and see if they’ll go down closer to 26000 which would give you a discount of around 12%.

Its up to you I know personally I have to have a sunroof but everyones different. But yeah try some other dealers around unless the drive isn’t worth it for you. I drove 4 hours to get the best deal for reference.

Subies are great, I had a 2018 Crosstrek and it was great (even with a sore spot for power and the CVT).

I’m in at 10AM and I’ll see what I can put together.

I PM’d you my deal.

I just wanted to put my two cents in here because I do this every day for a living and I work for Subaru. I’ve been with them since 2009 and every single time I look at these forms I cringe. Yes some dealers try to take advantage of people however there are so many “arm chair quarterbacks” out there that have no idea what they’re talking about that it makes me sick. First off the dealer that gave you that quote, they are selling the car for what most dealers refer to as triple net. That means they are selling the car at the dollar figure that they pay for the vehicle. I know that the rate they are giving you is buy rate from JPMorgan Chase. as far as I can see the only thing that they are messing with is the maintenance contract which if you buy one from Subaru it covers all your services including the 30,000 mile service and it gives you $500 back towards your next purchase or maintenance contract if you decide to keep your lease after it is over. Some of the people om here saying that there are lifetime oil changes think that there are no charges incurred with that program and they are dead wrong. That is always built into the price somehow. You never get anything value for free. I feel that the deal that you got is fair however there could be some tweaking with the maintenance and it makes no sense but the payment that would be the same with or without the contract. So in conclusion the people who are saying you should never pay more than $300 a month for a 2.0 4 cylinder Subaru obviously have never tried to lease one or are used to seeing rates and residuals from a few years ago. Everything has gone up in rate and the residuals have gone down which means you pay for more of the car up front in depreciation. If anybody has any comments I would like to reply I would be more than happy to respond to you.

I don’t want to step too far into this dicusssion, but I think there are 2 things at play…

  1. is this a good deal for this particular car? which is the OPs original question. is there more discount available for the car, is teh MF the base or marked up, did the dealer throw fees in here that should be negotiated away.

  2. is this a good value for your $. which is where the comment of don’t pay that much for a 4 banger.
it might be possible to get car X for the money from infiniti BMW or whereever.

Subarus struggle with leasing b/c they have high money factors. The offset is they have high residuals and if bought resale value. They may have the best deal on this particular car, but that is a decent amount of money for what is essentially a dressed up, compact car.

Which state are you doing business at?

Take a look at my 2017 Forester lease.
Premium with eyesight and all weather package.
MSRP with destination was almost 30k.
After Subaru $500 loyalty coupon I’m paying $277/m , 36m/12k miles. (It’s our 7th Subaru).
I contacted many dealers in NY State before leasing this one and did my homework.

I replicated the same deal for parents in law on 2018 Forester last year but it was with 10k miles/year.

My lease ends in 6m. So far I’m quoted around $330 on new 19 Forester premium with 30k MSRP at local dealership.

Are you able to do better?

Here’s my 17 lease agreement:
