Just notice in Aug, we have 4000 customer cash for 2018 Mx-5/ MX-5 RF.
2019 is coming with new engine.
Looks like we may able get a MX-5 for 250-300/month.
I’m contacting some dealers for more information.
Anyone have experience with MX-5 lease?

Anyone have experience with MX-5 lease?
Usually they are terrible leases, but Mazda also usually doesn’t have $4k in cash, Damn.
Does anyone know if these can get tuned to make up for the hp?
Are you sure the $4k bonus cash isn’t only valid for purchases?
MX-5 leases terribly that is why I ended up buying one last year. The customer cash you see is for purchase only and does not apply to leases. Your best bet is to find a 2017 that has been sitting in the dealer lot for months. Get a good dealer discount and add the $4k customer cash, which in my region is for soft top 2017 cars only. If you wanted a 2018 RF that cash goes down to $1k…
I sent some email and no response yet.
If the 4k is not applicable for lease, I will definitely purchase or find something else.
Look at the footnote from the Mazda website:
“$4,000 Customer Cash good towards 2017 Mazda MX-5 ST. Customer Cash cannot be combined with all offers, including special lease and special APR offers financed through Participating Lender. Offer valid to 9/4/18. No cash value. Limit one discount per customer per vehicle. Must take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 9/4/18. Residency restrictions may apply. See dealer for complete details.”
Saw on Honker and was wondering why they were unusually cheap and basiclly at 1%. In LA $327/month, $327/down, tax included, for a loaded Grand Touring model with nav, blind spot, etc.
Thanks, I saw a 2K+2K offer for ST and 2K+1.5K offer for RF. both 2017 and 2018 in my region.
And I think you are right, it is for purchase only.
Leases might not qualify for $4,000 customer cash, but there’s still a good amount of dealer cash on MX-5 leases. Combined with the .00014 MF, lease deals on MX-5 can be great this month.
Source: I just leased an MX-5. Will share details later.
Welcome to the club, Michael! Let’s see them pictures!
I bought a new 2017 GT soft top for $6K discount off MSRP in mid July. Back than there was only $1k incentive so if you can still find one you can probably snag it at close to $9k off.
+1 pictures, details of lease, negotiation tactics. We want the whole nine yards on @michael 's mx-5. Congrats!
Good find. Finally a 2-seater roadster than can be leased for 1%!!!
That MF is great for a Miata, when I was shopping for it last year the MF was something ridiculous like .00224. Enjoy the new ride, I still love driving mine after 18 months and 15k miles…
Not that you are wrong because who knows what they intend by that footnote, but “can’t be combined with special lease” does not say the same to me as “can’t be applied to a lease.” They technically should not have a problem applying it to a 3rd party bank lease since they’d be getting rid of the car either way.
So last Friday I got the following deal:
Year, Make, Model, and Trim: 2018 MX-5 Grand Touring 6MT
MSRP: $31,390
Selling Price: $26,623
Monthly Payment: $335
Cash Due at Signing: $0 (rebates covered drive-offs)
Incentives: $957.19
Months: 36
Annual Mileage: 10,000
MF: .00014
Residual: 52%
Region: Southern California
I actually ended up getting the car through Honcker. Originally I contacted two dealers via their websites: one responded with a pricey quote and was curt when I asked them to match Honcker, while the other didn’t respond to my inquiry at all.
I was impatient, so rather than expanding my radius or waiting for a response, I figured I’d give the app a try. The advertised deal on the app was $281/month, including tax, and $1,534 DAS. Why put in the legwork if there’s already a great deal one click away? After inputting my info, Honcker provided me with the VIN, and I traced the car… to the same dealer that didn’t respond to my inquiry.
The dealer called and said the price on Honcker was a mistake and the algorithm wasn’t right and that it actually would be $310/month with the same drive-off. After some back and forth, they agreed to $335/month and $0 drive-off over a text message.
It ended up being slightly more expensive than advertised on the app ($10/month more, all things equal), but it seemed like a decent deal on the MX-5, and this was the closest dealer to me (within Bird scooter distance, in fact).
Judging from previous posts, it doesn’t seem like the discount I got was unusual. However, the ND Miata never got promotional MF rates until now, and I don’t expect that to last when the 2019s roll out.
Also, I wonder if I could have gotten the same selling price, plus $4,000 customer cash, on a purchase. Now that would be a steal. The finance guy said no and that my selling price probably includes dealer cash specifically for leases, but who knows.
Another thing: the deal you see on Honcker is tied to a specific car. The moment you check out, they send you the VIN and you don’t have a choice over options or equipment. Fortunately this dealer had two such cars in stock and I went with a different color. Also, the app is a little buggy and I never bothered to upload most of the documents it requested. I just showed up like any other car buying transaction.
Now I just have to find time to drive the darn thing!
Nice deal! These never leased well
I have a 2006 GT 6M I bought straight out of college. I haven’t been able to drive it in a few years (sits at the in laws house out in the burbs, we live in the city and lease a more practical car) but I refuse to sell it. A timeless gem of a car no matter what generation. Miss the therapeutic drive it provides!
Post pictures all who are getting in on these leases!
If you ever wanted to lease a MX-5 in California, now is the time.
The $4,000 customer cash IS usable with Mazda Capital leases in CA. And so is the $750 lease loyalty if you have another Mazda lease. The Club trim also has $300 lease cash, so if you have a Mazda lease like me, on the Club you’re starting at $5,050 off.
Dealer discounts in addition the rebates seem to be in the $3,000-$5,000 range.
MF is .00001 for 24 months and .00014 for 36 months.
Manual Club Residual is 58% 24/10, 51% for 36/10
Manual GT Residual is 60% for 24/10, 52% for 36/10
I will be making a deal this week probably. This is too good to risk it not being extended into September.
Did you check the edmunds ? They match your down payment up to 1000$ ? Any thoughts or ideas anyone want to chime in about ?
Let me know how it goes! I didn’t see the $4,000 customer cash on my lease contract.
If it was $4,000 dealer cash baked into my selling price, then looks like I got a paltry $767 discount.
