2018 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD

Point taken but I’m not sure that this is true to a fully loaded RS with MSRP exceeding $60K. BTW, this is again a badge issue because I think the quality of the materials of the Q50 is not much better than the Kia’s and the infotainment of the Q50 is horrible.

I agree that Inifiniti’s infotainment is in desperate need of an update. It’s part of what keeps me from being interested in one.

I don’t agree regarding quality of materials and such. I sat in a stinger in one of their mall locations recently and was very underwhelmed by it. It felt very cheap. I’m sure it performs great, but the level of interior quality and design wasn’t there for me for a $50k car. Certainly doesn’t compete with comparably priced Genesis models; has nothing to do with the badge on the front.

Was it a GT2? I sat in one and it had a comparable quality to my 50k 328i. I agree that I wouldnt pay for it more than I paid for my BMW (around $350 all in).

I think it had ventilated seats, which seem to only come on the GT2, but I admittedly didn’t pay that much attention to it.

Thanks. Right now I’m actually trying to decide between the Stinger and an Audi so I guess I lose either way. I haven’t really found better alternatives to either. Certainly not an Infiniti. I test drove an Alfa Romeo Guilia today and I didn’t like it as much as the other two either.

Did you compare or consider a 4 series Gran Coupe? Looks like some decent deals were posted recently.

I pray the g70 leases decently.

Exactly. The Stinger GT is comparable to the S5 Sportsback and the 440i Gran Coupe, which are both significantly more costly.

same, or I might lease something for 2 years then pick one up with a long warranty

MashBoss - I’m curious what you end up with - I’m going through a very similar dilemma - looking for a sporty AWD sedan, and throw in that I really like adaptive cruise which puts it in the top trim for many cars. A4 Prestige would be enough power and is very nice interior, but as this forum states, leases are not very good. Stinger GT2 is a good option - I got a quote for 0 down, 600/mo for 36 mo; 12k mi /yr, which I gather from this thread is not still a super deal. Was not really impressed with the Q50 interior.
To me the A4 with the dual clutch has a much faster initial response for acceleration from low speeds which is what would be used most in reality. If only the A4 prestige leased well. So what is the best option? I see so many comments about not a good deal - what is the best deal for this sort of vehicle?

I leased a gt2 awd for 560 a month with 1000 out of pocket at signing 36 months 12000 miles

No trade all taxes and fees in

Not as great a deal as some other things but better than what it seems most are paying

I ended up getting the Audi A4 Quattro, premium plus w/ Nav. I really like the Stinger but I decided that the Audi beat it out in pretty much every category besides raw performance, and was cheaper. So for a daily driver it made more sense to go with the nicer interior, better tech & infotainment, better sound system, better safety, better mpg, better dealership and company track record.

Yes that was my impression of the best possible price available.

Yes, I fully agree on your comparison between A4 and GT2, and the raw power alone isn’t the winning factor for me, especially since it takes a good bit of a second to kick in. What did you get for your lease terms? I haven’t seen many recent posts about A4 lease.

For a 50k MSRP A4 (quattro, premium plus, Nav, Sport package, 19" wheels, moonlight blue, grey oak inlay) I ended up at $489/mo + tax for 12k miles/36 mo. I used quotes on here from IvanAudi as the baseline to then end up slightly better.

Wow, that is encouraging that good lease deals for Audi are achievable - you are below 1% on payments at 12k mi/36 mo! Given that it is know what is possible for a quote, what is the best way to approach a dealer about this? (in my situation I would try to scale the similar rate up to the A4 quattro Prestige - which is only slightly more (52.5k).

The Prestige lease payment will be a lot more than “slightly more” if the RV is less than the P+

He’d be slightly above 1%…he needs to add tax.

They will also probably discount the Prestige less because they will have far fewer of them.

I don’t understand the comparison. If all you want is a starter luxury sports sedan and fine with a 4 cyl 2L engine then why go with the Stinger GT in the first place. I can understand the remarks if you compare the Stinger 2L but, for the same reason you should not compare the Audi A4 to a Ford Mustang GT with a similar MSRP, I don’t think it is fair to compare it with the Stinger GT. The GT should be compared to the BMW 340 or 440, or the 3L versions of the Audi from price point perspective. Also, my guess is that within a year or two, the Stinger will be priced much more competitively, especially since there will be more performance oriented options at that segment, such as the Mazda 6 GT and upper trims, with the 2.5T engine (although front wheel only).

Thanks for your question - it does initially seem like an unequal comparison (GT2 and A4 Prestige, or maybe Q50), but it depends what metrics you are comparing and at least at MSRP they are similar. I’m actually looking for advice, so happy for suggestions what to look at - I have plenty of time (looking at summer). Here are the key metrics I was looking at and why both of those ended up under consideration.

  • Luxury sport sedan (interior quality, initial acceleration response, don’t care about top speed etc.)
  • AWD
  • Adaptive Cruise
  • More tech the better (sound, smart phone, nav)
  • More nimble is better (could be a drawback of something a bit bigger like G80)
  • leases well (all-in payment 500-600 incl. 6.75% tax) at 12k/36mo

By the way @max_g - you are right about the residual for Prestige - doesn’t make any sense that it is lower than the P+ but that is true…
