Im going to contact other dealers to see what I can get, but I need an opinion from the experts, on dealing with dealers like this. Is it worth negotiating with them? Or should I not waste my time.
*It would also be helpful to know how to sell a total loss car to a dealer.
I think $398.60 for a car with an MSRP of $24,775 is absolutely terrible. There’s cars that cost twice that amount that you could have for that type of payment. Is the money factor of .0021 the base one? Seems really high, could be marked up. I would double check.
Every dealer around me has a good amount of Civic Si to sell so I can’t imagine there would be such a mark up, and the only thing that would be due at signing would be the first month payment, everything else was rolled into the monthly. Ill be calling around to other dealers, what numbers do you think I should go for? According to Edmunds the RV is 60% this month and the MF is .002, so I don’t think it should be difficult to get sub $270 on this car for 36/12. Thank you guys for the replies.
I won’t be, I’m just not sure what to do after that since the car was a total loss, I heard its supposed to be worth 0.2 of the used car cost, which is around $800.
Need to start by email dealers. When you are in front of them they try to take advantage of you and pressure you. If you do emails then they need to do something to lure you in. Make them play on your playing field not theirs.
. You can borrow the 22000 or so that car would cost for 5 years and have a lower payment.
Also that MF is horrible. If you really have to lease a 2 door Honda, It’s my guess that the numbers on a 2017 Accord Coupe would be much better maybe you can find a V6 Coupe?
If you have the numbers ready, then it’s time to call around and cast a wide net. Most dealers do not want to play our game but your odds of scoring a nice deal will come at the end of a slow month.
Not sure where you’re seeing $800. I have private party value at $3500. Also not sure where you’ve heard .2 as a value (I work in auto salvage and I’ve never heard that before, I’d say it’s closer to .5 or .4), but even with that aggressive drop you’re talking $700. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get at least $1000 for it on Craigslist unless it’s in completely awful condition. I’m also sure sites like Cash For Cars will make you an offer on it way above $100.
