I know neither of these lease particularly well, but some of the ads I’ve seen for the Supra are effectively $800/month pre tax on a low 50s sticker. Haven’t seen anything regarding the Z4 yet. Is the BMW badged BMW a better lease deal than Toyota badged BMW?
Yeah. For a variety of reasons, I’m sure there are other posts on this in the forum.
Go out and buy a used M2. Youd be happier in probably every way.
I got my z4 much lower than what I could have a premium. I pay 670 for the m40i while I was seeing around 8-900+ for the premium and I don’t want to even fathom the launch addition due to the crazy markups. The Fiscal year for Toyota ends in March so expect to see some lower Mf at feb to march time. I’ve seen the residual on the Supra drop from 63 to 61 but As long as the residual doesn’t dip below the high 50s you might want to wait or try a deal on the z4. I was waiting for the Supra but the interior and the ability to go go top down really sold me. However the Supra to me does look subjectively better.
I’m kind of in a weird situation here myself. I got a significant pay raise moving out to southern California in December from the Midwest so I don’t really need the all wheel drive or roof on my S4 nor do I need the 4 doors because my girlfriend has a wrangler. I’ve been kind of toying with the idea of swapping it out for a impractical fun car because I live downtown and it’s a 10 minute walk to work. I’ve been considering financing a used 718 or leasing the Supra/Z4 but I hadn’t heard of any of the brokers here really trying to move the Z4 and the Supra has such a cult following that it’s not going to lease well anytime soon. I really appreciate your insight- the payment on my S4 is very similar so I think I’ll go to the bmw dealership and see how it compares to the 718.
You can get a z4 for a decent price
Give any thought to purchasing a few year old 911? Or something older that’s really cool. Doesn’t sound like you’ll be driving much, or even have to.
I’m not entirely sure what all I could get into on the used market for around 50k with a convertible top that has both vented seats and CarPlay. Not to mention, with most luxury cars that are several years old there are serious maintenance/reliability concerns.
If you are looking for a Z4, just wait, depending on your timeline, there will be eventual deals on the car as they are NOT selling by any means around here. I went to my local BMW dealership that I have had a relationship with for 20 years and they told me the “Straight” numbers on the car without incentives and negotiations were ~ $1100/month for 36 on a loaded M40i with $2500/down and 15k miles a year. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.
Are you sure the dealer didn’t accidentally give you numbers for a m850😂? I got an offer on a loaner for $1200/month with 0 down.
Right! I just couldn’t even wrap my head around the numbers so I just laughed because that was the only reaction I could think of!
There was a Z4 deal @Bacons_C.C posted. It looked very reasonable. It think it’s long gone but it might give you and idea. Also the BMW version of the engine has ~50hp more than the Supra.
I just looked at Edmunds: MF is reasonable, residual in high 50s and small incentives (1500/2500 depending where). Actually not bad if you can score a discount. I saw someone saying they leased one in 600s.
I wouldn’t let CarPlay and vented seats get in the way of something like this. Yes, you’ll have maintenance costs but it doesn’t sound like you’ll be driving much. I think you’re looking at monthly payment, rather than cost over time? This Porsche will likely still be worth more than 40k after 3 years and you’re about to put out close to 20 k over the same term.
