Following the Supra it looks like BMW is bringing the manual transmission in the Z4 to the US in the M40i trim level.
From a convertible, manual transmission perspective the competition is only the 718 Boxster from Porsche. Is there anything I’m missing that can be had with both conv/manual combo?
Current gen M4 convertible is awd and 8 speed auto only.
I so hope BMW will now also offer the 6 speed on the M340i since it uses the same drivetrain. I would trade my 6MT M2 for an M340i (preferably xDrive) in a heartbeat, that would be such a useful package…
I forgot all about the american muscle cars, but don’t see them being a cross-shop often. I think the MX-5 and Minis are in the slow car, fast category.
Personally, I’d consider a GT convertible and save +$10k over the Z4. Even though I think the Z4 kills it in the appearance department.
