Your First Car?

1989 nissan maxima

A 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix Brougham. Bought it used circa 1998 for $1,000 cash. Black with a red velour interior. You had to be there.

My father also had one of these in the early 90s. An excellent car of that era.

Looked Identical to this, 2004 Volvo XC90. Was a hand-me-down from my parents. Fantastic car and a tank at that. Until my younger brother took it on a road trip and had no idea what the oil light meant. Blew the engine lol.

1992 Chevrolet Beretta GT. White with Grey Interior and white wheels. 3.1L V6 & 3 Speed Automatic. Bought it brand new a week after I got my license. I’m going to be 48 in a few weeks and haven’t owned or leased another GM car since.

Maybe you get a call from Gas Monkey Garage once he sees your post

I can only wish.

Buying this car can be blamed on being an immigrant that was watching Beverly Hills 90210 in the 90s and thinking Brandon was cool. Clearly I should have gone the Dylan route and left an old Porsche to rot in my parents’ garage instead.

2006 Chevrolet Aveo sedan. 5-speed manual

The edmunds report said 26 mpg combined, but I never got more than 17mpg out of it somehow.

This fine automobile… a 1988 Volvo 240 GL, beige on beige. Had a velour interior and a 0-60 time of 14 seconds, thanks to an automatic transmission that would never let you get anywhere close to redline.

Not actual photo.

A hand-me-down 1998 C-Class (in 2005).

Orange 1974 Super Beetle with no floor on the passenger side. $100.

That’s a classic.

My first was a 2013 wrx (manual of course). Got it brand new in 2012. Owned it for 6 years, did cross country road trips, never had any issues. Absolutely loved it. I still sometimes wish I got the hatch though. I remember I leased it for something like $250/mo with $6k down, 42 months- which I realized later was a pretty mediocre deal. But ended up buying out the lease anyway.

Did some cosmetically heinous mods including smoked tail lights and plastidip badges (it was the plastidip renaissance in my defense). And at one point it was slammed on stock rims and straight piped lol

This was it towards the end of my ownership. Pretty much returned to stock in the last few years.

I still pull the CARFAX on it every once in a while. Has stuck with one owner since. Would love to buy it if it ever came up for sale.

It was 2007 and I really wanted a car that I could work on. Saw a Sn95 on the bus ride home from school, got off at the next stop and checked it out. 1995 Mustang GT with a 5 speed. Owner said it had a bad head gasket. Bought it for $2,800 and took it home.

Trick Flow 190 heads, a baby cam, street heat intake manifold, MAF, Long tubes, a catless X-pipe and borla stingers made me feel like the coolest cat in the world.

First car in HS: hand me down from my mom 1984 Chevy Cavalier. It was a piece of junk, but it was MY piece of junk damn it!! Got me through HS and college.

To this day the only GM I’ve ever owned.

2015 Subaru BRZ, manual was a must for me. Got the car and proceeded to total it ~11 months later. Couldn’t find a solid replacement around the $30k price point so I ended up in another brz after.

Nothing like that sweet sound of the EJ with those unequal length headers. Best sounding 4 banger IMO

My first car was a shared 1990 Volvo 240 DL that could do 0-60 in under 3 minutes.

The first car that was MINE was an 88 Saab 900 Turbo 5spd manual with 192k miles. The car lived up to its name… Some Accessory was Always Broken. I still loved it, though.

I had an '89 SPG with 220K miles when I bought it. Loved that thing. I kick myself for selling it.
