Wrecked Lease Question

Hey everyone! I have a different type of lease question. My wife leases a 2018 Honda Pilot. She was in an accident a couple weeks ago and today we received word from the other parties insurance that the car will be totaled. We owe $31,562 (lease payoff) and they offered $32,763 plus tax of $2,000ish so $34,000ish total. They are going to call Honda and deal with the payoff. My question is…if they are giving Honda an amount over the lease payoff will we get the difference or does Honda keep that? Thanks for any info!!

You should likely get the difference back.

Thank you! Perfect!

Check your lease contract friend! I hope you and the family are safe. Best of luck!

It depends on the lender and whether they have language in the contract that allows them to keep any overage

On the bright side, if you want another Pilot, the deals lately have been great.

Going for an Odyssey this time. She has lease through Honda. Haven’t seen anything either way in whether they will keep difference or it goes to us.
