Will picking up BMW at factory save me money on a lease?

,

Looking at leasing (or buying) a new X5 which is produced in South Carolina. I live in Florida, and dealerships here are overpriced.

I know you can take delivery of vehicles in BMWs Spartanburg Performance Center. Anyone know if this will save some money?

Thanks!

I don’t believe so. In fact, when you do European Delivery, there is an MF adder. I doubt you would get a hackr deal on a PCD - just as a matter of course since it’s a special order.

That said, it’s a really cool experience from what I’ve heard.

Outside of the experience itself (which is phenomenal), the next biggest benefit of doing PCD is being able to work the deal with any dealership nationwide.

Being in FL, I have had very little success in getting a deal from in state dealers. Most of my BMW leases are custom ordered vehicles from a CA dealership and the overall savings on the lease are more than enough to cover the trip to Spartanburg and drive back.

Do PCD for the experience, but the cheapest overall deal (counting all expenses) will probably come from grinding a GA or AL dealer for something in stock (or maybe even the PA/NJ deals that get posted here from time to time).

I am in Tampa. I am thinking on buying my next BMW in CA. Is that a good decision on small vehicles (440 GC) or just on the larger ones X5, 7?

I saw plenty of southeast people buy from Atlanta on bimmerfest back in the day.

Depends on how good your deal is vs the cost of shipping the car. Or, your time commitment, 1 way airfare and gas/tolls if planning on driving home.

A PCD deal is the same as a dealer build deal except you get the PCD experience for free. ED is still a better deal than doing a dealer build if you intend to take a trip to Europe. In years pay, the ED was far better than doing a dealer build, but those days are gone.

Interesting. I am located in GA, just a two hour drive to the PCD center in SC.

Wondering if I can order an X3 from a CA or NJ dealer, and pick up at PCD. Question is do dealers offer same kind of discount on a special order as in stock units.

Talk to @nyclife. The answer is about 1% difference many times.

Yes.
Generally no

I’m also in the Tampa Bay area. Looking to lease an X3. So far, I’ve gotten 9.2% off MSRP which has taken MUCH back and forth between multiple local dealers.

One e-mail to an Atlanta dealer (Gwinnett Place) and 10% off without any effort. It’s amazing the difference…plus the fees here in Florida are awful.

This is what I did. I pick my car up at the PCD Monday!

I also went to Gwinnett Place last week, and 10% off MSRP and base MF with little effort! I am waiting for the Atlanta Driving event next month to get the OL code!

Since PCD allows to work with any dealer, I am hoping to get more off MSRP this way.
