Well you are making some horrible decisions in a row. Id tell my wife sorry (if anybody can be sorry for driving a new $90,000 car) you have to drive it. Buck up man.
The most recommended solution on LH is Gap insurance + snowy off-ramp.
So the choice is basically tax fraud or insurance fraud lol:)
In all seriousness, she’s fine to keep it. She’s had Defenders for 5 years now, got another one, and then had a bit of regret that she didn’t try out something else instead. So I figured I would take a stab at seeing if I could get her out of it, which is becoming less and less likely.
yes, you can
A new 2024 G550 is still on the lot? What is it like emerald green on red?

If there’s a washed-up, lot rotted, piece of crap Benz for sale in SoCal, there’s a 99.9% chance it’s at West Covina Benz.
Obviously lots of variables, but it should certainly be leveraged when appropriate and people own several businesses for a reason…
LMFAOO it’s always West Covina with the absolute ugliest builds
Full 100% in the first year?
The smart play for now might be to encourage her to test drive that “something else” and figure out if this is really worth pursuing. What if you do pull something off with the G550 and she ends up hating that too?
A VW ID Buzz @ $30k off?
That’s funny. I actually have some family that live really close to that dealership.
I believe OP would also have to keep the vehicle for 5 years otherwise he would have to recapture the entire amount as ordinary income.
It seems you fundamentally don’t understand that the dealers arent helping you out. No one is giving you a bigger discount because of your negative equity , you just perceive it to be beneficial to you for some strange reason.
If the neg equity didn’t exist these cars wouldn’t be worth more than what you’re being offered. So you have to separately consider if it’s a good deal on the new car or not, from your negative equity.
It’s also ofc very strange and financially costly your wife would decide after 1 month of a new car that she doesn’t like it. Given this fact, she should probably extensively test drive any other vehicle you’d get , or you risk doing the same thing again in search of a good deal but transacting on a car she doesn’t like.
committing fraud via 179 is also prob not a great move, especially when you likely have no true need for the car or you’d already be utilizing as such but you do
Dump the wife. Keep all the cars. YW.

65k for 80k defender is a fair deal. it is just about 20 percent discount.
I know the answer…….get the dealer to discount the G550 by 60k, not 30k.
