Why lease a BMW 3 series when a 5 series is ~$100/month more?

I’ll take a 2020+ M550i (loaded please) for $550/month. :innocent:

I did the same thing, but shockingly between a 7 and a 2, and ended up with a 2! I may be the only person in the history of the known universe to cross shop those two cars…But that was only due to my ignorance in how large of a car my wife would drive🤪

I chose 540 over m340 because it was cheaper to lease.

Even though I like the deal I got, I’m just not enjoying the car that much.

I mean, it’s a beautiful car, solid and smooth performer but it feels SO disconnected from the road. And it’s hea-vy!

Even my driving habits have noticeably changed - all I do now is cruise, no desire to take it onto twisty roads.

I love it’s interior, the ambient lighting, the HK sounds noticeably better than in 3 series.
I call it “lounge on wheels”:sunglasses:

But I totally see me going back to 3 series at the very first chance I get.

I had a 540 as a loaner a few weeks ago, I quickly referred to it as the "velvet hammer":hammer:

Joke on the BMW forums is the M550 is the “rocket sofa”.

real convo/thought process
Me to my wife: what about an x3? its got the space and cost is nice.
Wife: no, x5 for sure.
after some time, me: why not an x7, and definitely an M50i.
Friend who has an alpina B7- why not the BX7

Theres never an end to the “why not” and I think you just have to get what you want and need without reaching for a deal on something you didn’t want or need. We’re going with the X5.

Whoa whoa whoa, what happened to the 7 series.

Now you’re staring at BX7s?!?

/satire

The 7 was for my brother. Decided 7 was too much car and settled on a 5.

Saw a likely faulty dealer sales price on a BX7 for 99k. I would get one for that price!
