White interior Lease

Hi!

I’ve been searching for a car, and although I negotiated a decent deal, I got mixed up. After searching for so many cars, it all becomes a blur. The biggest problem is that I didn’t realize the interior was white! It seems that there are consistently good deals on cars with light interiors. I’m concerned that the interior will be hard to keep clean and could easily get damaged. Since it’s a lease, I’m worried about potential damage fees when returning the car. I’ve thought about using seat covers, but I’ve also heard they can damage white seats. Is there a solution or workaround, or should I just move on?

Thanks!

I think it depends if you have a synthetic (base) “leather” or if your car has some upgraded premium leather.

The base stuff usually holds up well and you don’t really have to care too much besides not drinking wine while driving.

Also, avoid seat covers like this. The textured/PVC on the underside will rub off on the seat, so it’s worse using stuff like this than nothing at all.

Car wash membership

I checked it is synthetic leather

You should be fine… just enjoy the car as you normally would if it had black seats. Put a pack of wet wipes in the car and rub off anything that you may think is a problem.

If you don’t have any kids that will be riding in the car, then don’t sweat it.

If you don’t have kids and/or jeans you will be fine.

Synthetics like MBTex and Sensatec are fairly easy to clean.

I prefer lighter interiors, the tiny amount of extra upkeep is well worth it for how they just feel more spacious and brighter

Lease return should cause you no more headache than all black interior.

Regular upkeep on both exterior and interior will keep your car looking brand new, which is presumably one of the reasons to keep leasing instead of buying once and running into the ground.

Stay away from automated washes unless absolutely necessary.

IDK where this myth comes from. If one is raising slobs then they’ll ruin a black interior too.

Sold a family member’s car recently. 10+ yrs and 80k miles old with almond beige MBtex. Jeans and kids in it all the time. Everything comes right off, assuming you’re not a slob, with typical retail, non-specialty products unless you leave it and let it cake forever.

Sold to the first person who saw it and no mention of any flaws in the interior.

I agree with you on instant cleaning will fix the stains but some people doesn’t even take their car to car wash during their lease. Black interior hides that criminal behavior  better.

I have a small towel we sit on for hot days. Some dark new jeans will transfer if you’re sweating or after the pool etc as a precaution. Previous transfer I could get out with cleaning products, but too anxious to go round 2 with it. In short I would do the light interior again, but take a precaution if you buy jeans often like my wife does. Nothing else seems to get to it.
