Thats tax fraud in most states and is generally illegal.
Yes, people do it often.
People also get charged for it too.

You pay again upon SALE ?
Do you have a legitimate corporation in either of those states?
It depends, not in my case.
I dont see why I have pay taxes for a motorcycle I purchased out of state and has not been run in FL and I trying to sell.
In any case the taxes laws are unfair on that regards here.
I dont, but I want to get one for legit reasons.
Have you considered consulting a tax attorney or someone with intimate knowledge of tax laws?
Thank you for the reference, I will consider it.
Where is the motorcycle? Most states have drive-in/drive-out rules related to the physical presence of tangible personal property. Even with a legit Montana corporation, if the motorcycle isn’t physically present there, hasn’t been present, and won’t be there, it’s illegal to register it there for tax purposes.
Similarly, if you bought it out of state, the selling state usually won’t charge you tax, depending on the state, but you’d have to pay Florida sales tax as a resident and if it’s physically present there, whether you’ve ridden on it or not.
Because you’re not a dealer
All valid points, thank you. The motorcycle is in FL
And so the intend is circumvent having to pay taxes similar to other states that allow you to do so if you sell with x amount of days, not sure it is possible in FL
You just have to ask yourself if “saving” $1200 or so is worth the hassle of trying to setup a phony LLC for registration purposes and want to introduce that risk.
Agreed, point noted
That’s only CA that has that rule. As you obv see there are a few states with 0 or very low taxes on vehicle transactions.
That’s the problem right here. You’re trying to get out of paying sales tax. There is no legitimate way to “circumvent” paying sales tax. There are specified exemptions in each state, and some states have reductions for certain items, but that’s different than trying to do something that will get you in trouble.
This guy is so slimy should we send him a job application? Maybe teach him to work a four square?
Delaware does have sales tax on motor vehicles.
Thevolvoguy nobody asked for your smartass option, keep selling Volvo
now it’s getting interesting
