We’re a loyal Volvo family, but I’ve always been tempted by the deals I see on BMWs on this board. I’d like to gift my parents with
a new lease and have been thinking of negotiating for a 2019 Demo BMW. But I feel like I’m starting from scratch here in terms of knowing how to play the game, as Volvo never leases older models. What are your best tips and tricks? Silly question, but say it’s a $60K vehicle marked for sale at $35K, ballpark what should I expect to pay on lease? Model recommendations? Any 4 door is an option, small SUV is optimal. Nothing fancy needed, they would be upgrading from twin Kia Fortes.
Good luck!
2019s can’t be leased
If you’re curious what you’d pay use a broker spreadsheet/calculator to plug in the specific variables assuming you have them all
Not sure what you are smoking but whatever it is, I’ll have 2 of those!
I recommend 2 i8’s. Then they can race each other.
They stopped leasing 2019s in May. I Recently leased a 2020 5 series demo ($59k MSRP) for under $500, $0 DAS, 36/10. Go for a 18-20% pre-incentive discount. Search pre-owned inventory with under 5k miles listed at a BMW dealerships, had to call 10 different dealerships to get the right deal… good luck!
When I go to my childhood home I always sit next to my father’s empty chair. I would have liked to have gifted him a BMW. I am glad you have the chance. Focus on 2020 demos.
SUVs:
X3 - most likely choice
X2 - you like them or you don’t
X1 - maybe a little small
Sedans:
If they can get in and out of it easily - 330i.
If you are not in a rush, wait until December. Inventory is very low. Dealers do NOT want your business IF you want an aggressive deal. Dealers will wait for buyers/lessees willing to pay up.
You might find a hot deal before December so do your homework. Know what a good BMW demo deal looks like and pounce on one if it pops up on here.
This is an easy one!
A. You’ve missed the boat on 2019s. You can hope similar deals will be available on the 2020s next spring.
B. But the best BMW deals almost always require loyalty. You can swap into an existing BMW lease now and thus get loyalty for your next BMW lease.
At that sale price, it usually includes most incentives (such as BMW Loyalty). Here is some advice:
- Focus on 2020 demos or loaners, as long as they have lease support.
- If you can wait another 6 months, sign up for a BMW CCA membership. It takes 6 month before you can be eligible for a rebate after leasing certain BMWs. There is a thread on here about it (use the search function).
- Figure out what car they would enjoy driving for the next 2-3 years.
- Do research on past BMW deals for the model you want to lease for your parents.
- If this is all too much work, hire a broker.
I don’t want to sound mean, but how do you expect internet strangers to tell you what BMW model to lease for your parents.
What is your budget?
CCA Rebate doesn’t work with demos/loaners
I should have stated as long as the car had less than 1000 miles.
From BMW CCA’s website:
ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
- New passenger vehicles (including European Delivery & Performance Center Delivery), SAV’s & newly Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.
INELIGIBLE VEHICLES/PROGRAMS
- New, non-registered vehicles in excess of 1,000 miles including company vehicles, retail demos or loaner vehicles. 3rd party brokers, lease companies, etc. do not qualify.
- Already active Pre-owned vehicles not re-enrolled in the CPO Program.
- MINI Models and Active E models are not included.
You won’t be getting much of a discount of those. You can do the math, but for a 3-series, discount of $500 is less than 1% off msrp. Better finding a loaner with 4999 miles and much deeper discounts
You are probably right. Just giving OP some options, but without knowing what their budget is, we can’t help much.
X series Loyalty $1,000. Conquest $750.
Unlike the 3 and 5 series where Loyalty is 2x Conquest. 7 series 3x.
Put a BMW under your parent’s Xmas tree (or any other December celebration you enjoy).
New cars only.
