My father in law passed away recently and I’m trying to help my mother in law sell their 2012 Toyota RAV4 with low miles (~34k) equipped with a mobility lift for an electric scooter. She’d prefer to sell it along with the scooter (2022 WHILL Ci2 Personal Electrical Vehicle).
definitely reach out to the mobility mod shops. also any of the local disability facebook groups. hell even putting it on the marketplace would be a good thing. you’d be surprised how expensive mobility stuff has gotten these days.
Thanks on both counts. I did call a few mobility shops and they only deal with modified vans that can fit a wheelchair inside and not cars with scooter lifts, but I’ll try the Facebook mobility groups.
Here is the response from NMEDA. Adding it here in case this can be useful for others in the future:
You can try going to the dealer locator on our website to find mobility equipment dealers in Southern California. Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles | Adaptive Vans & Cars For Sale | NMEDA Just put in your zip code and you will get a list of nearby dealers. Contact any of them to see if they might be interested in acquiring your vehicle.
I have zero experience with this so take it for what it’s worth, but I’d try selling the two separately. Odds of finding someone who needs both that scooter and a 11 year old RAV4 to put it in seem far lower than finding separate people who need the scooter and something to carry any scooter.
Tom McParland is the Jalopnik contributor/ broker and his wife requires a mobility conversion. I would guess he’s pretty well-versed and may be able to help you out. - https://automatchconsulting.com/
