Can someone please tell me where I can get accurate Money Factor and Residual values for any car in any particular month? This will help me with lease calculations. Thanks!
edmunds forums …
If you do a simple Google search of “[Year] [Make] [Model] residual value” almost always the Edmunds forum pops up as the first result.
Thanks, I was hoping for a link to a site that lists all cars and their M.F monthly but I guess digging in to edmunds forum is the only way for now.
They’re very quick to respond on the edmunds forum. It’s not instant, but still a great resource.
Whoever is the source for that information obviously disallows those tables being published.
This makes me wonder about another thing. Who set’s the MFs? And if they are just interest rates for leasing, why can’t I go to my bank and get an auto loan like a lease that can potentially get me a better MF rate… hard to explain but does that make sense?
I’m sure you can go to your bank and get a loan or lease via your bank, but thats when you WON’T get the incentives offer by the manufacture. e.g BMW/Toyota financial wants you to use their bank for financing. i’m only speaking from what i know of these 2 manufacture, others might be different.
An auto loan is NOT a lease. Why would you assume two different financial structures would have the same rates? For starters a lender for an auto loan never has to worry about what the resale will be like in 2-3 years.
Credit unions and financial institutions like Ally do leases, too, btw. It is not just the captives (the leasing subsidiaries of the OEMs).
You can search for posts by a user named RVguy on this topic.
So I asked the edmunds forums for the MF and residual on a few different trims and they basically said no because I was asking too much (I wanted to compare the bottom line monthly payment on the Jag F-Pace 25t vs 30t vs S)
Is there anywhere else folks could recommend looking? Anytime I’ve asked a dealership for this info they’ve refused to give it to me so that’s usually a dead end but I could always try it?
The lesson here is that you need to narrow your focus. Just ask for rv/mf for two of those models and you’ll likely get the info. Some info is better than none
Also, if you’re just looking to get an idea of what each deal would look like, just look through past posts to see what the residuals, MF, and incentives are. May vary by location but should be good enough for ballpark estimates.
