Where to buy pre-owned car

Hello all!
Is there a website similar to this but for buying cars instead of leasing?
Or is there a broker who can hunt down good deals for me for a fee? all regular ones (cargurus, autotrader, carvana, truecar, etc) dont seem to have anything good.
Or the deals only exist for leased vehicles?

What car are you looking for? On my limited buying used car experience, I bought both of them from private seller, one posted in Autotrader (prior to FB marketplace) and the other on FB marketplace.

Theres a guy on here that brokers Crown Victoria’s if that’s your kind of thing. He can hook you up.

Ain’t nobody want some booty cheeks crown vics. LHers don’t wanna play rentacop.

What are you looking to buy? There is no magic formula for getting the best deal on a used car. Know what you’re buying and the right timing can make a world of difference.

I have not tried the FB marketplace yet, maybe i should give it a go, thanks!

i was looking for a small luxury suv, like lexus nx or similar.

I am not a broker but what’s your budget why the NX?

Ok, so probably cars.com, auto trader, etc. They’re not difficult to find and you can narrow your pricing. Fairly easy car to determine what you want and set your target price. Fb marketplace may not have enough inventory, depending on your location and what year/price range you’re looking for.

FYI, the cheapest price on used car may not be the best deal for you. Always insist on PPI. As other poster has mentioned, Autotrader, cars & cargurus may be your best bet. You may have to get from other states as well. I got my 1st used car in orlando, 2nd used car from Boston & drive them both to philly.

the car is for my wife, she likes the brand and doesnt need a big car. I was hoping for somewhere in lower 20s, but all i see is at least 10k over my budget.

yeah, i do search nationwide with plan to drive it home from any other state, but so far no luck.

Also, whats a PPI?

Pre-purchase inspection. Should be around $150-200.

ah, got it, thanks!

Then tell your wife she needs to find something that is within your budget.

You’ll probably only get high mileage Lexus UX in that price range.

Do you have a large annual maintenance budget?

Don’t assume every Lexus is bulletproof reliable. Some models have horrendous design flaws. And any used car can suffer from neglect and deferred maintenance.

That means your budget is unrealistic. You can expect private seller to sell $1-3k less than what dealer offer, not $10k less unless something is seriously wrong with the car.

def looks like it

Unless you have already accounted for it, a budget of $23k needs to be broken down like:

$6,000 for catching up on deferred maintenance and replacement of consumables (tires, brakes, fluids, filters, bulbs, etc) over the next few years

So $17,000 OTD after TTL

So more like $15,000 purchase price as an upper limit.
