I’m not surprised at all by this. Yet another centralized stablecoin pegged to the dollar has failed. This is yet another no your keys no your coins scenario. If a person does not have legal title to the asset then they do not own the asset at all. All they have is an IOU and that money is gone.
Would setting up a partial DD (have the minimum amount necessary to qualify for the bonus deposited into that checking account) suffice? Like I keep my main DD with my main checking account, but create secondary DD’s temporarily for the accounts I’m trying to collect bonuses on. I’d rather not have to completely switch my direct deposit to another bank if that’s possible.
You can do partial direct deposits, just make sure you read the terms of each bonus and account. It may be easier to do a full dd then transfer some back to primary Acct. Make sure you know what the minimum needed is in the “bonus” account to keep it fee free.
Almost all bank account openings are soft pulls on the credit report, so not affecting the score. Recently did two different credit card bonuses involving hard pulls and the effect on score was negligible.
If I’m trying to collect all these bonuses all at once, it’d be good to do the partial DD thing. ![]()
Not the credit score given, as others mentioned, it’s usually just soft pulls, but I recent came across something on the Fico Forums called the qualifile score, which is some hybrid algorithm between debit history and credit history maintained by Chex. Didn’t do any further digging into it (anyone know more on that offhand?), but there could be some other systems like that which they use to track bonus hunters. Would they enforce it? ![]()
Citi is still paying that on $200k for 90 days
I don’t get paid by “direct deposit” (payroll ACH): Chase fucked me last year on one of those, told me verbally and in writing that a recurring monthly transfer from another bank account (my business checking) would suffice, at the end of the timeframe they told me they wouldn’t pay the bonus.
On partial direct deposits: most payroll systems allow splits, and you could (for instance) DD entire check into new account and next day transfer all or (all -$100) to your normal account
Wouldn’t surprise me if the banks have some system that tracks serial bonus chasers to blacklist them (similar to how credit card companies refer to those that pay off their balances every month as “deadbeats”.)
A relatively little known system called: Early Warning Services: What It Is and What You Need to Know (letmebank.com)
EWS for short.
Unsurprisingly it is owned by seven major banks and it tracks among other things, deposit account openings. Believe the primary goal of the system is to reduce fraud. If your inclined, you can order a copy of your report. It’s rare to see someone declined for an account based on EWS however their are people who will do the max possible for bank account bonuses and get denied for opening to many accounts. Similar to ordering Eight Wrangler 4Xe’s for yourself, in your name.
Most banks tell you how often you can “churn” the bonus at their institution. Citi is typically 6 months, Chase 2 years, etc…
Por que no los dos?
I got that offer - it was the most unpleasant experience. The banker was rude as hell; he probably figured out I am just there for the bonus. WF’s consumer banking isn’t very great either - I had them because my college town didn’t have any other bank. Never ever wanna deal with WF unless they 1500$
Man, I’ll be treated rudely for a time or 2 if it means I can bag an easy $1,500. Lol
he’s helping the used car market by giving them 7 wranglers to be sold at outrageous interest
Damn…. Don’t see a chart line that often.
Lehman Bros, meet Luna ![]()
Back to back 99% wipeouts. Lol
Imagine dumping a ton of money in after the first 99% dump thinking you were getting in cheap.
Some rapper put in $2.8mil a couple days ago. He has like $200 left of it.
Hopefully they can turn that loss into a hit single on Tidal that will recover some small fraction of that
“Yo, where my tendies at?!”
I threw $3k at Luna at .013. Why not? Might go to $0 but if it pops to $10 that’s 2.3 mill. I like that risk reward. Even $1 gets me 230k
