What's up with Ford F-150 leases?

Same for buying. I’ve looked at Sec 179 with my CPA since 2007: has never made financial sense. But every lease we do the math.

Either way, you’re spending a dollar to save $0.30, I’m just spending fewer dollars and saving fewer dimes.

The F-150 is the best selling truck in the America. It has never “leased well” that I have seen. Ford typically charges 4-5% just on the rent. And there are ~30k (a week supply) stuck in WIP.

Agreed - not sure about the 250k before issues on the F150 - I’m sure it depends on use, but I have heard stories both ways.

I have 2 F150’s in my companies fleet - an F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and an F150 with the 5.0 V8.

The 3.5 is a 2018 with about 120k miles on it right now - no issues so far, but all were easy highway miles.

Agreed. Never understood this reasoning. It’s like the people that don’t want to make more money for fear of being pushed into a higher tax bracket. Many don’t understand how taxes work.

100% spot on.

We have gone exclusively 3.5 ecoboost, most of the guys use their own cars but we treat the higher up foremen with f150 lariats with their choice of 3.5 or 5.0. All of em choose the 3.5 since gen 2. Usually run the trucks until 100k and then get rid of em before the value drops like a brick. Some of them end up buying them for themselves, one 2015 is up to 250k miles last I heard with no issues yet, guy takes them on cross country trips, drives all over the place, I think he has a 120 mile daily commute. Pretty easy miles though, mostly highway, doesn’t idle it for long, really takes care of it.

I see it like you are going to spend the money anyway so a write off is a bonus.

As for lease/finance, you can deal with trade in values, depreciation, etc etc with a finance or you could just go lease it, turn it and move on. Just ease of use, really depends on if you have the cash flow to not care.

No disagreement here.

I read an article the other day, that they shutdown their Dearborn plant! That could very likely be the main reason for dealers to freak out!! I would…

Louisville plant shut down until at least mid July

Kansas city until june 14

Dearborn is supposedly closed for 2 more weeks.

From multiple dealers, next delivery of the high trim powerboosts were expected mid next month. We grabbed 2 of the 3 final platinums from our dealers allocation for 2021 model year and he said normally they get 100+ platinums allocated a year, this year they got 10.

From all around its supposed to get worse, couldn’t tell you how much truth there is to that as many in sales like to lie through their teeth or blow smoke up ur a**

they need to Tighten up…no excuse to not make big chips
