What would you buy for $10k?

Lolol learn his ways young one. :raised_hands:t3::raised_hands:t3:

Really would not recommend buying any used car from a dealer, let alone a BHPH type place.

Here’s one that squeezes under the $10k ceiling.

Here’s my under $10k contribution. I’ve always liked these.

Almost picked one up during Covid for $3k to build an overlander. Kicking myself now.

I’m probably going to flip the Infiniti. I was able to get an incoming Performance Blue Elantra N DCT allocation for $1400 under MSRP.

What are the manuals going for?

I’ve looked long and hard at Monteros for exactly the same thing many times. Not that I’ve ever actually gone overlanding…

Delica is always the answer.

An RHD non-turbo diesel 4MT, to be precise.

Everything up here if you can get is MSRP at best, or well over. I got lucky on this one - I have to finance through HMF but I’ll just refi if the deal sucks.

I purposely avoided the manual for two reasons. (1) my wife can’t drive it, and (2) everyone seems to prefer the DCT over the manual - not quite notchy enough and weird clutch bite.

Haha. I’ve never been over landing either. I just think they’re cool older full size suvs that are known to be reliable.

I’m good for 2-3 camping trips per year. Usually one night with a shower at my house the next day.

This would be a perfect vehicle for this.:rofl::rofl:

I was way more interested at $3,500.

Especially if they have bubble tubs. Much rather do that than pretend to be homeless.

Been following this thread for a while and it’s ironic because my kid is buying a car for exactly $10k.

It’s an 80s Toyota Supra… which is funny because I wanted one back then but couldn’t afford it.

I’m just hoping it doesn’t turn into a $20k car because of any additional work.

I think these things usually run less than $5k (non crazy used car times) but we’ve been looking for a year and anything in that range doesn’t even run.

I’ve never bought a used car so this will be interesting… and I will probably end up in the Project Car thread.

2nd gen or 3rd gen?

Capitulated on that during this past year as we were good with either (coincidentally my father owned a Mk3 which would had made me jealous but I was into trucks by then).

We started shopping for the Mk3 because it was newer but we both really preferred the look of the Mk2. Test drove one the other day (haven’t driven a manual in over 20 years) and it’s a lot smaller than I remember (and I’m a lot bigger).

The one plus is it runs. Going to take it over to a mechanic before we commit and we will see.
