Why does needing a 20K mile lease imply the need for an EV? Are you worried about the cost of fuel while spending $1K on a lease?
That’s not the case for all manufacturers. For example, when I leased my 2024 Ioniq 5, it came with free 30 minutes charging sessions for 2 years. I signed a 3 year lease, so I will have to pay for charging if I plan to use public charging.
EDIT: FWIW, I have a Level 2 charger at home.
You can get a used iX for $36-39k. Even after the mileage you’re using, I bet you still can sell it for $10k 3 years later.

True, but if it is out of warranty OP would need to account for the cost of an extended warranty.
Personally, I wouldn’t buy an EV right now.
