That’s not the same as the “Upgrade Program” they use Citizens One Bank for that, your apple card purchase installment plan is different though.
The Upgrade Program is done through Citizens One Bank Credit and I think you can use a CC to pay for it… can’t remember when I used it quite a few years ago
It used to be only Citizens One bank (I had several of those), then post Apple Card they offered both options, not sure if Citizens One has the upgrade program now but I know the Apple Card installments are eligible. When my last phone (first using Apple Card installments) hit 12 months I got all kinds of notifications from Apple I was eligible for the upgrade program (not trade-in).
Apple, the Big 3 and seemingly everyone else all do an “upgrade” program after 12 months or some other interval.
With upgrades, the sweetspot with an iPhone was 1 year and then it went to 2. Now for an iPhone an upgrade even in 3 years works as well as there are only so many decent features being rolled out now from version to version.
I just ask someone on Apple live chat and they said you could use your credit card. I ask if I was allow to use the Bank of America card since I have around $300 in reward to use.
Yes BOA have apple gift card, I called BOA and they said as long as it show apple $39.50 on the statement you could redeem your points. I also called Apple and they said your allow to use BOA credit card. Also if you wanted to get out of the iPhone Upgrade Program you would have to pay the same monthly for 24 months which is basically more than the phone msrp. For instance $39.50 for the iPhone 14 for 12 months is $474 but in order to get out of the program you would have to pay $39.50 for 24 months which is $948 more than the phone would’ve cost if you bought it for $799.
I pay $11.11m/36m for a 14 Max Pro with 256GB with Verizon after the trade-in for the same 12 and can upgrade at 12 months if I want. The price on Gazelle, eBay or whatever for the 12 could not make up that difference on that deal when I am paying $399 for a $1200 phone even after the 12 trade is factored in.
Just so you know you can ask for a credit off your bill when your in a area where the connection is weak I did that with T-Mobile a few days ago and the person I chatted with gave me $25 off my bill due to service issue in that area.
As long as it show on the Bank of America statement Apple $39.50 not Capital One $39.50 since I have around $300 in rewards that can be Used for Apple products
So essentially your leasing a phone then , right ?
Because for the early upgrade phone they want 50% of the phone paid off or 650. After they got 650 you give them the phone back and start a new 36 month cycle, right?
Shit I wasn’t planning on upgrading this year, and now you’ve given me a reason to upgrade my phone.
Another hack with Verizon is that if you have an older iPhone, something that they still give 1000 promo credit phone, take your sim and put it in that and upgrade that device while keeping the new device and using it later on for the next trade in
