Dude… i dont know what’s hackable and whats not. In my other thread I mentioned I’m new to all this stuff, not sure if you read that. I’ve seen some decent deals on GLB allowing me to save more than i had initially planned. But that’s precisely why I created this thread - to see what are some other “hackable” cars coz the GLC350e & Q5e you suggested have not had anything great turn up in marketplace yet when i compare it to GLB (not interested in Volvo).
I think I’m getting a better hang of it after researching these past couple of days and saw a few decent deals on the GLB. I dont wanna splurge much, and wanna minimize costs as much for now for a decent luxury vehicle which brings value thats it. If you have a specific deal you think is worth looking at, I’d be all ears coz you sound like you’ve been doing this a lot longer than I have.
(Disclaimer: I aint the brightest on the forum by any chance)
-MSRP: listing price
-Selling price: how much you got it discounted via dealer BEFORE incentives
-incentives: region depenent and differs for every brand. Deduct from selling price above. (go to edmunds or become a supporter and use ratefindr)
-new selling price. ALWAYS try to differentiate what the dealer is discounting BEFORE incentives. That way you know how much the ‘true’ discount is vs kickbacks (incentives).
-MF: the loan charge-dealers try to mark this up (how much is it? see edmunds forum or become a supporter and use ratefindr)
-RV: how much teh vehicle is worth at the end of the lease-non touchable and set by banks.
-Luxury means many things to people. So its all subjective. Using the marketplace to see what discounts/offers are being advertised and use that as your guideline. Make your offer, don’t ask for one. lastly, general rule of thumb, money down on a lease is never a good idea.
-Happy hunting
I realize all will have different opinions on whether this counts as a hack, but IMO a heavily discounted GLB loaner isn’t a bad payment for a nice gas car. I can’t think of any gas 5 seater that would ride as well and lease better.
That said that’s exactly what my brother wanted (2nd car after the XC90). Along with the dealer cash we got to just over 26%. With NY tax on a 39/12k we’re at 487/month & $487 DAS, 55.8k MSRP. 7500 miles would have been right around $450. Not bad on a gas car from all I’ve seen, and beyond the broker one off specials.
OP just FYI this search took me emailing detailed offers to about 17 dealers. You may be best served by going with a screaming broker deal until you’re more familiar with this process. Best of luck!
TBH I would say it’s the other way around. As of a couple years ago I tested the GLB and GV70 back to back. The Genesis felt like a luxury car in comparison while the GLB build/material quality was lackluster and the powertrain was labored.
Since the OP is open to sedans I would say check out the G70 2.5t. Brokers have them at like $385 plus taxes and fees DAS.
Agreed. Had a GV70 was a rental and it was very nice. Also had an electrified G70, and it was great as well. If I didn’t own a Macan GTS I might consider one of these.
to continue on rental thread. I had G80 EV, extremely buttoned experience. great ride assisted driving feature, I swapped it for EQE, very plastiy and tacky interior, start button locks up during freeze. Poor battery range.
After driving both for week+, I would certainly go for Genesis while avoid EQE, despite of prestige of brand badge and varying dealership experience.
The XC90 would absolutely poop all over any GLB. Way more luxurious. You should probably stop snobbing about badges – I promise no one at church / the school pick-up line / work could care less what you’re driving
Fair shout! I am also considering the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited trim - interiors felt very luxurious loaded with all tech features that we need, and I liked the boxy exterior (hot take i know)
I wouldn’t say that is giving them away. MSRP under $44k for an effective payment of $539 per month with only 7500 miles and a $600 broker fee on top!?
Ouch. A score of 7.7 years without adding tax and broker fee? I wonder what this deal would look like in Michigan at 6% tax rate and a $260 doc fee. Is there a BMW dealer or broker that wants to set me up on a one pay in Michigan on one?
I would say it is. How do you define giving them away? For me, giving a car away would be any MSRP discount that is beyond all front and back end profit, a hard cash loss, which is exactly what that is at over 13% off MSRP. There isn’t 13% of margin in a new BMW.
So it absolutely is being given away, you can absoluetely argue that it does not lease well, and I’d probably agree with you, but you can’t say it’s not being given away, or that’s it’s not an objectively good deal for that specific car.
Here’s your one-pay with Michigan tax, you pay plates/reg, broker fee, and shipping separately, lmk when you’re ready to move forward, I even discounted it at even more of a loss for you.
