Long story short, got a decent lease deal back in December 24 for wife’s 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie.
42 mo term and we are smack dab in the middle of that (21 payments). Truck has the dreaded Stellantis “parasitic drain” and keeps leaving us stranded with dead batteries. 4th time to the dealer in about a year and they just keep replacing the battery and can’t figure out the root cause.
Anyways - we want out, but of course since it’s a Stellantis vehicle and we did sign and drive $0 down, we are upside down about $15k from what most appraisals online have us at.
I know best option is to ride out term and dump it, but wife needs a reliable vehicle that she can drive the kids around in.
Second best option would be trying to bury the neg. equity in a new deal with a decent rebate, no?
Also considered using a credit card to 0 APR the15k+ neggy eggy on a new deal and just start fresh if possible. Idk.
Help or options are welcomed from y’all seasoned war vets. And yes I know, I won’t be leasing another Stellantis turd anytime soon… don’t have to roast me on that part please.
Negative. The sales rep, we did the least deal with at our local dealership, is super awesome and also suggested we raise hell with Stellantis and look into filing for lemon, but I assume that’s a very drawn out process that’s not guaranteed.
She also said from her experience with the old 4XE issues, she only saw a handful of customers get a few months of payments worth issued via credits from Stellantis, which is better than nothing at all, but I want away from this vehicle if it’s going to continue
At 21 months into his lease, he’s likely past the lemon law timeframe (depending on which state the car was originally leased from). Ram Cares would likely be the best option.
PM me. I have an incredible Lemon Law attorney from Los Angeles, but I think he can do other states. He has gotten a FULL refund on a RAM with transmission issues that they couldn’t solve. He got me settlement of $18,000 on a Chevy Bolt lease that I had already returned when they had battery issues a few years back (I think after rebates and stuff, I made $12000 after all was said and done). He takes over the process, calls their lawyers and he gets paid by the auto manufacturer. I’ve never seen him lose a case in all my referrals.
