Helping my sister lease a new 2021 Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line; not getting too far with them as of yet…she wants 10k/36mo which seems to put the RV at 55%, marking up the MF a bit from .00015 to .00065. They’re basing on 3k down which isn’t gonna happen
What’s more bizarre/frustrating is their unwillingness to bring the price of the car down more, they had advertised a significant discount but apparently isn’t applicable to leases, strictly financing only.
anywhere to pry at and get a decent deal on this with zero down? if they don’t lease well altogether I’ll send her to another make
Welcome to Seattle - you’re going to need to shop and shop hard to get a deal up here. Make sure you’re checking high volume dealers in the area (like Dick Hannah VW).
Rather than asking for a quote, you’d be better served coming up with a reasonable all-in offer and sending it to them - it’ll save them and you time.
I’ve typed up 3 or 4 different responses to this and keep deleting them, so I’m going to try to do this differently. I apologize if this comes across as mean, but it really isn’t meant that way.
You have one and only one appropriate course of action at the moment: Stand up and walk away.
You’re so far out over your skis here that you’re setting yourself up for failure. It’s in your best interest to step back, take the time to do your homework and establish your actual targets, and then approach a new dealer that you haven’t already fouled your position with to start over.
Talking to a dealer is for finding someone to do your deal, not for trying to determine what something should cost. If you go in and ask them how much they want you to pay, you’re going to get that answer.
If you’re looking at a specific trim level that is only available at one dealer and one dealer only? You’re not going to get bottom of the barrel pricing - laws of supply and demand.
VW of Olympia and Auburn VW are other dealers to try, but given what you’ve said, I wouldn’t go in with high hopes.
Carter is a great dealer - super customer focused, honest, etc - but they aren’t going to give you the best deal.
