With so many people selling to vroom and Carvana, I’m hoping someone on this site has some experience or guidance on buying from them.
I put a deposit on a 17 TRD pro on vroom and am finalizing today.
Anything I should know? I’ve read some horror stories and some success stories, hoping to get some personal feedback here.
I’m getting it inspected once it arrives, also hoping to hear if anyone has had experiences having to return it or finding new issues and getting Vroom to pay up to fix it.

Buying late model used on a mainstream car rarely makes sense. Doubly so at a more (supposed) upscale dealer like Vroom or Carvana.

I have one a few miles from me with similar miles for $4k more.

Going with Vroom guarantees that you’ll pay more than you need to. Vroom and Carvana prices are not that competitive.
If you can negotiate just a little you can probably get a better deal at many other dealerships.
For what it’s worth, my last lease turn-in had some significant body dings. I followed the VIN number and noticed that Carvana got the vehicle at auction and then sold the vehicle without repairing the body work. They disclosed the dings (as normal wear) but the close up images had some sort of soft filter on so that they didn’t look as bad as they were.
When you buy from your local dealer you would see any imperfections. negotiate by e-mail with the dealer and then get the car inspected. You’ll likely get a better deal.
Vroom and Carvanna’s market is people who are hesitant to go head to head with a dealer. And they charge extra for that priviledge.

In my specific case the pricepoint is significantly lower than any other i’ve seen so far. Carfax looks good, some scratches that they photographed, but in general about $4k less than the local dealer was asking (and 6-8k less than a lot of other across the US).
Also they just beat the rate I got from my credit union by .1% (not alot i know but it’s through Chase where I bank at so it’s incredibly convenient).
My hope with this thread was to gather information from first hand or second hand experiences of people who have found a deal that works for them and the process after.
I’m hoping all is good, but they do claim that if I take it to a Toyota Dealer and they find anything wrong with it that was not disclosed I can send them the bill…
I’ll keep this thread posted about my experience if no one else has any experience with it!

That is inaccurate, it is the final sale price, however like any other dealer they have few fees. Here is the breakdown for my Tacoma TRD Pro

Comparing the exact same vehicle, color, trim, options, year, and the miles are 3k lower on the vroom car.
Maybe I should’ve named this “Unicorn deal on Vroom”.
Note that I live in Los Angeles.
To full circle this - I ended up selling the truck in february about 18 months years after buying for $36500. Did no maintenance besides one oil change.
So in total including the oil change it cost me ~$100 a month to drive.
I think I could’ve gotten a little more for it but I was buying a house and needed the cash to close. Overall Vroom was pretty annoying to deal with after the vehicle arrived (Took months to get Title, the vroom contact changed multiple times, but they continuously sent “temp” tags quickly) - However it was a unicorn deal and I have 0 regret from buying from them.
