2 years back I took lease of Volvo XC90 Plugin hybrid T8. Used MSD also.
Location: California, San Francisco
This 2025 December , this lease of 24 months lease is expiring. Screenshot of numbers attached.
I am not sure these numbers were good or bad. But that time, this was the best number I received in Northern California. So, I went ahead with it as I needed car that time.
Ran 14000 miles only. Comfort wise, I loved the car and it served the purpose. Mostly driven daily city limits and used electric more.
What are my options. Should I return the car and go with new lease or buy this car? I am open to both.
If you’re in a position to do something in the next week, I’d work with a broker to find a 25.5 XC90 T8 and pull-ahead your current () lease before the EV tax credit related incentives … change.
I would NOT buy out your current lease. If you want a different brand, you have two months to test drive alternatives and decide. Maybe @IAC_Scott can put you in an X5e for this payment.
Any broker that serves CA can get you a car. Don’t be afraid to have one shipped to save money, you should be able to shave quite a bit off that payment.
I have zero inside knowledge and nobody knows what next months programs will be, but in your shoes I’d be worried that Vovlo pulls the big incentives in T8s and EVs for Q4 just to see how things shake out. They have already made big adjustments to production (what-and-where), even if they throw Costco at it I wouldn’t bank on strong leases until they are drowning in ancient relics (like the one I’m currently leasing) again.
Take advantage of Volvo’s lease pull-ahead program which will waive your remaining 2 payment and turn-in fee. DO it before September 30 to get the $7500 tax credit though.
I’ve shipped multiple cars (E->W, W->E, MW->W) with zero issues. If you’re concerned about the shipping, @Benedetto is both an auto and freight broker and ensures the drivers aren’t meth heads and the trucks/drivers are properly licensed and insured should anything go wrong.
It would be one thing to ship a car to save a few bucks, it’s always worked out to save me thousands.
