Volvo XC90 Momentum T5 AWD: Costco and Invoice Pricing

Happy Holidays everyone.

Can you guys help me confirm invoice pricing on a 2018 Momentum XC90 T5 AWD. My research says that invoice price is 94% of MSRP on the base vehicle on all options/packages.

Invoice MSRP
Base Price $46,154 $49,100
Destination $995 $995
Total Base Price $47,149 $50,095
Exterior Color $559 $595
Interior Color, Leather Seating Surfaces w/Two-Tone Interior $1,316 $1,400
Heated Front Seats & Steering Wheel $705 $750
Convenience Package $1,833 $1,950
Wheels: 20" 5-Double Spoke Alloy Matte Tech Black $1,034 $1,100
Total Price with Options $52,596 $55,890

With Costco pricing, I’ve been offered the vehicle at “invoice” less $500 less $3000 for Volvo HSE which brings my pre-tax and license to $49,096 or 12.2% under MSRP.

Can I do better? KBB puts the fair market range at $48,565 - $52,370. But is that before rebates like the HSE???

I see A Plan VIP take another $1500 off so perhaps there’s a good deal more to squeeze. Anyone know how to go about securing that incentive?

Thanks in advance for the thoughts.

There is no “Costco pricing”, unless you go through Costco car buying service, which is no different from Truecar (and it is powered by Truecar).
Forget about KBB. It doesn’t take any lease incentives into account, anyway.
Read about a-plan - there are hundreds of posts about it here.
Start with 10% off MSRP before incentives and go from there.

Thank you VERY much for the reply Ursus,

Full disclaimer: I’m planning to buy the car, but this is the healthiest forum on pricing I’ve seen anywhere on the web!

I did start with Costco’s buying program which led me to the current dealer that defined “Costco” pricing in these terms. As you’ve noted, I have seen several threads here talking about 10% off MSRP BEFORE incentives. That would appear to be inline with KBB for this trim which put the “fair market” at 90% of MSRP.

With HSE on top of 10% under MSRP, I get almost 15% under MSRP - are you saying that’s attainable in Southern California?

10% + all Volvo incentives + any others you qualify for. Dealers in some areas are more difficult than others, so you need to try and see for yourself.

Ursus,

Thanks again for reshaping my expectation about goal price. It took some work, conversations with several dealerships and willingness to walk away, but it paid off.

My MSRP was 56,300.
I reached an agreement at 47,000 after HSE. So that’s 11.24% under MSRP before HSE and 16.56% after it.

In contrast, “Costco” pricing ($500 under invoice) would have been $52,514 before HSE.

That’s a difference of $2,514 by negotiating solo!
DON’T USE COSTCO!

URSUS - YOU ROCK! THANK YOU!

Hi Jeffrey,
Would you mind sharing what dealership and in what city you got your XC90? What is HSE?
Was it a limited time offer? Trying to buy the same car right now, but I am not getting anywhere close to your number ($47K). Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrea
