Hardly any data on this car since it is relatively rare, fewer than 500 produced. Was pushing for 10% off MSRP but it wasn’t out there. Would be my first Volvo, but it’s grown on me. Understated, Scandinavian luxury that’s still relatively fun to drive. In this segment, I would prefer this over the S4 and the C43. Really like the m340 but I already owned a 2018 f30 so I’d like something different. Electric range will be enough to cover my roundtrip work commute. Not the best deal out there, but seems decent enough for this particular car.
deal looks ok- but you are getting a unique car for sure. i believe this is powered by the same engine in the xc90 recharge- turbo and supercharged 4 cyl with hybrid. correct?
your lease deal looks better than my xc90 from a few years ago. we had the top of the line with R design polestar. really liked how it drove in polestar mode. i did not like the transfer/lag from electric to gas around 20 mph when in basic hybrid mode.
Yes, I believe it’s a 4cyl w battery that provides like 130something hp. Around combined 440hp I think. Definitely paying a premium for this model, but compared to the XC60 in the same trim, the discount is pretty much the same and I prefer the sedan.
The S60 is neither a particularly rare nor desirable car. An aesthetic package or trim doesn’t really add rarity or desirability here.
And it’s rather bizarre IMO to compare it to much more bonafide sport sedans. Whatever the on-paper numbers are, I’m not sure how accurately they reflect that it’s a heavy PHEV with a small gas motor that doesn’t have much grunt when the battery isn’t providing much power.
I’m all for electrification in the right circumstances but this is really expensive for what it is
I’m not a huge fan of the S60 but its gas engine provides 312hp. I hope we aren’t at a point where that is a small engine.
I hate the bigger is better ethos but…I don’t know if I could stomach this deal when brokers have well equipped XC90 T8s, with nicer interiors, more features and this exact powertrain for significantly less.
What would you compare this car to? I’ve looked into the segment and there doesn’t seem to be any real comparison for a phev sedan that does have some sport characteristics.
I am definitely open to suggestions though. But for sure I am tired of suvs/crossovers and I want to get back into a sedan. I have a 12kw solar panel system at home so ICE cars are out of the question. At 41 miles of electric range, the s60 seems to hit the sweet spot of covering my entire daily commute while giving me the extra range for extended trips. Not opposed to BEVs and I’m actually currently working on a deal for the i4 but it’s more about shopping the deal than the car itself. And there’s also the Lucid Pure. If there’s anything else you recommend in the $50-$75k range feel free to share.
My 340i had 320hp and that was more power than I needed. So much fun to drive though. 0-60 time is almost exactly the same as the s60. Where the s60 loses points is in it’s handling and that’s because you just can’t hide the extra weight when you hit those corners.
Totally subjective but I didn’t find it comfortable when I had one as a rental. And as it’s a Volvo, a brand i would only consider leasing, the value proposition just isn’t there for me. But if this is what you want it’s not a bad car. It is pretty unique in the PHEV space for it’s class.
