Having test driven one of the first ones that has landed, this car isn’t worth anywhere near what they’re going to be pricing leases. Same as the ev9 when it first came out. Owning it is a depreciation headache. I’d pass/wait.
Then why are you putting yourself through all of this if Volvo does not seem to care about a potential customer?
Yikes. Is this car really worth $1500/month?
I don’t want to be rude, but forget about ABA.
Take the hint.
They must have the first edition model.
And why you want to belong to this unwanted club?
Was really looking forward to this car after pre-ordering so long ago, but it just came in and wow these lease rates are terribad:
If you want full size SUV with 5+ seats, your choice are Kia EV9, Rivian R1S or EQS. IMHO EV9 with the current lease rate is a good choice.
That “+” in EV9 is for what? Shopping bag?
The lease programs have only been out a couple months but they are hot garbage. Check the Marketplace to see what is leasing well.
The earlier the adopter, the worse they get slaughtered.
I think you mistype EQS
As others have said, it’s a terrible lease candidate, but it’s also still new and it’s typical for lease programs to start out poorly. If you need something now, check out the other models folks have recommended.
Otherwise, over the next few months the market will dictate how much Volvo has to incentive this. Different vehicles & not completely overlapping customer segments, but IIRC it didn’t take too long for KIA to realize the EV9 needed thousands of lease cash to start moving.
I can’t see Volvo selling a lot of 80k+ EVs without strong incentives.
Especially with more competition such as the Ionic 9 coming soon.
But then, even the XC40/C40 still has no good lease number up to now.
The C40 has seen some periods of strong incentives in recent memory, no? (currently mid lease on one sub 400s, 0 down. Some equity, but was mostly due to decent programs). I’m guessing since then, Volvo hasn’t produced as many. To sell through, they will need strong programs on this model.
Re: the XC40 – I have no idea what market day supply looks like on these, but I’d venture to guess Volvo doesn’t need as strong of lease programs relative to MSRP on these given their much lower retail cost (prob tilts the ratio of # of those who purchase vs lease) and popularity. The cost of these + the engine options opens up the XC40 to a much wider net of potential customers…
I would be interested in this car once it’s hackable but I can’t get down with the London cab camera thing above the windshield.
