Volvo 21 XC40 T5 R-Design 36/10 First Time Leasing

Hi folks, first timer here so would appreciate any feedback. Been lurking the forums to absorb as much info as I can. What do you guys think about this deal?

for $570.68 for 36mo. 10k miles with $1,000 down.

I’m in the market for T5 Volvo XC40 in white that I’m planning to lease for my mom. 36mo. for 10k is what we’re after. We qualify for Costco and First Responder but no loyalty. Unsure what else is available. I don’t fully understand MSFs but if we can get the monthly payment lower the better. We are in sunny Las Vegas 89110.

I am seeing $517.39 pre-tax pmt but unsure if I’m doing this right.

I attempted to put to that into the calculator as best as possible but it’s my first time. My numbers don’t exactly match up with the calculator so any help is appreciated there.

Pre-tax Monthly Payment: $468

Monthly Payment with Tax: $507

Drive-Off: $2,461

  • First Month Payment: $507
  • Down Payment: $1,000
  • Upfront Fees: $681.52
  • Upfront Taxes: $272

Something like this should be the target - 10% off, 10 MSDs. Verify MF on Edmunds also.

I’ve verified the MF and RV from Edmunds. The 10% off MSRP is the ideal but how negotiate? Also, what exactly are MSDs? I mentioned to dealer but they ignored it. Is it possible MSDs are not an option?

First responder caps the MSRP discount to 5% so I would try and negotiate the max off MSRP and skip that.

Costco is $1250 off XCx0 SUVs. Verify the incentives with Edmunds along with residual and MF

Thanks for the response. So tell them to remove the First Responder rebate and ask them to bring MSRP down to at least 10%? I verified Edmunds MF is .00111 and RV is 61% and no incentives.

There were XC60 Inscriptions in the Marketplace for a lot less than this XC40 T5… runaway

Not to bring MSRP down - increase discount to 10-11% in leu of FR. FR limits dealers’ discount to 5-6% (invoice) as @jeisensc said. .

I understand the initial quote is high but I haven’t begun negotiating with them yet. I’m going to ask to remove the FR and a reduction of cap cost from $44,045 to $41,663.50.

If they accept, that would be $448.60 pre-tax for 36 mo. and 10k miles. Would that be a good deal then?

What the leasehackr calc would look like:

Pre-tax Monthly Payment: $418

Monthly Payment with Tax: $454

Drive-Off: $1,537

  • First Month Payment: $454
  • Down Payment: $1,000
  • Upfront Fees: $0
  • Upfront Taxes: $84

Disposition
Fee : $350

Total Lease
Cost : $17,578

Thoughts?

Edit: Not sure why my math and Leasehackr calculator don’t add up.

What’s the point of hypotheticals… they’ve anchored themselves at a certain price range, what are the chances they will suddenly shave off another $2,500?

You tell me. What have you found in Shared Deals and Marketplace sections for similar money, not just XC40 deals

Well, it’s been hard to compared apples to apples so I’ve been using deals from socal which is closest to me from Las Vegas, NV. Then that becomes the issue because deals in socal don’t translate to Nevada. I’ve seen some amazing deals in here people were able to accomplish but it feels impossible for me because different state. Honestly I’ve only looked at the XC40 deals which aren’t many. At this point, I’m more after striking a good deal for value than money figures anymore. Just anything in the market with pre-tax $400 range for a suv small/compact. I’ll be happy to pay a premium if I knew I was getting a good deal on the lease.

Why wouldn’t an LA dealer sell you the Volvo of your dreams?

I hope they do! How do you go about asking if MSDs are an option? Do you just ask the dealer directly? And at what stage? After the Negotiated price?

You say “include max MSDs in the numbers”.

They aren’t doing you any favors by applying MSDs. It’s just part of structuring the lease terms.
