I have a related question about the VWPP. The discount under the program is invoice less $500 but dealer participation is optional.
In this market, it is understandable that some dealers opt not to participate. I’ve found dealers that do participate (but have higher dealer fees and/or required dealer add ons) and others that don’t participate.
My question is this. What support does the dealer get from VW under the VWPP? Just the $500 (and the dealer sells at invoice)? Or does the dealer get more than $500 from VW to participate in the program?
I found a dealer that was going to offer a $500 discount from MSRP under VWPP but the GM got nervous that if they were audited, they would get in trouble for not fulfilling the actual offer ($500 below invoice).
If I can understand what they actually get from VW, I think I can structure the deal in a way that allows me to get the VW contribution added to the deal (basically have the dealer fully participate but lower the value of my trade).
Anyone have knowledge on VWPP?
