Volkswagen ID4 in Connecticut

Hi @max_g - I am new to the forum, have done a bunch of reading through threads, and wanted to ask you - as you clearly possess a wealth of experience what you think of the following “offer” we are getting from our local VW dealer here in CT.

VW ID.4 2023 Pro S Plus with VW Sound
MSRP is $57331
Less $6,500 in discounts ($5500 is VW dealer cash, $1000 is dealer discount)
Less $7500 EV Tax Credit
$288 Registration
$699 Acquisition
$599 Doc fee

Residual value of the car at 10K/36 and 12k/36:
-$29812.12 for 10,000 miles
-$29238.81 for 12,000 miles

3 years Electrify America charging

Quoted at $659.00/mo x 36 months if $0 DAS

Feels like:

  1. More than $1,000 can be reduced on dealer’s direct discount as this is ‘only’ $ dealer is currently taking off the MSRP, right?
  2. How might reducing the money factor help here/how can it influence the monthly payment?
  3. What else to ensure I ask for here to not miss opportunity/leave money savings on the table?

Thank you!

I’m splitting this off from the other thread because local taxation and rebates make such huge swings in EV payments.

Also invaluable is anyone’s local knowledge of third party rebates such as municipal, utilities, etc

Hi Everyone -
Rec’d the below quote today when asking local dealer to honor VW’s National Pro S Plus “13k off” offer.

The lack of specificity in the quote (“Discount”, “Rebate”) is concerning. I also believe that given other deals I have seen here, and on Reddit that a reasonable price now would start BELOW MSRP and then take the discounts/rebates off from there.

Would value folks’ thoughts on approach here. I am confident the dealers want to move these and I’m in no immediate hurry.

Thanks!

Are you open to other makes and models that may have lower payments or more features for the same payment?

Absolutely am but of the mind that VW dealers are willing to move these cars especially with improved 2024s about to come out.

Also saw the likes of this and raised my hopes this could be a better deal. Not sure why this car - with all the incentives and rebates - could not be had for under $500/month

This statement doesn’t really make sense. Something is below MSRP because it has been discounted. It cant be below MSRP before the discount has been applied.

The evidence hasn’t really born that out.

YTD we saw Nissan and Hyundai being a lot more competitive with discounts and rebates. Even VW’s sister brand Audi were more aggressive with the Q4 afaik.

Hard to say how March will pan out; the first few days have been relatively inactive. But personally I wouldn’t allocate a high % of my finite deal-search time to the ID4 based on what we’ve seen so far.
