Vehicle Sales Tax in South Carolina

I have a question about how to calculate sales tax on a vehicle in SC.
One source states that SC has a vehicle sales tax of 6% while another states:
“If you buy or lease a vehicle, trailer, semi-trailer, or other automobile on and after July 1, 2017 that will be titled and/or registered in this state, you will owe an Infrastructure Maintenance Fee (IMF) instead of sales tax…You will owe 5% of the purchase price, but it will be no more than $500.”

Which do I use for the leasehackr calculator? The one that says taxes cap at $500 as an IMF charge, or the one that says 6% sales tax?

$500 in sc. but you have to pay personal prop taxes too I believe once a year

Capped at $500

Add $500 to the government fees line and 0 in tax.

Y’all are the best, thank you. I will add $500 to govt. fees and 0 in tax.
