Using GM Branded Mastercard For Down Payment

Has anyone used the GM branded Mastercard from Marcus to pay for a large down payment or single pay lease at a GM/Chevy/Cadillac dealer?

I’m curious if they are any more willing to accept it than any other Credit Card or if they get some reprieve from the typical CC fees?

Thanks!

It’s a Credit Card to them, you have to ask them how much they will allow on a credit card.

It doesn’t matter that it’s a GM branded card, it’s just a ‘card’ to them.

Exactly some dealers limit the amount they will accept on a credit card they dont wont to eat the fees.

I did this weekend. The dealer provided me a link to sign up for the credit card which gave me $500 credit towards the car, then I used the card to charge $3000 of the upfront payment. This was the maximum that the dealer would allow. The new card is 0 percent interest for 9 months so I’ll carry that balance and pay it off just before that expires.

Do you get double points for spending it at GM?

You get 7x points actually. I left a $5,000 down payment on my escalade. Shows up as 7x. $350 extra for no reason, I was good with it lol

I won’t know until my statement comes but I should get 7x points for spending at GM, (4x everywhere else). Additionally there’s a 15000 point sign on bonus that I should get for spend $1000 on the card. I don’t think that is sacrificed by getting the $500 rebate, but it might be. That would be worth $150 towards service of my car.
