Used luxury cars: Help me make a BAD decision

The astons arent a horrible idea if you can do some work. Ford parts in some cases. Rapide would be abother one to look at, looks like you have some 4 doors in your list. I could also see the V12 vantage holding its value, especially with a manual.

Lexus LC500. They can be had for below 60k now. DId a lexus track day few years back and loved that v8.

R8 is good in the later years. Comfortable and sporty. Great sounding engine.

Doesn’t have the exotic car tax.

I’d throw in the newer vanatge instead of a vanquish ( not as cool but more updated mbz electronics )

How much ā€œgtā€ vs sport do you want?

If u want to get really gutsy. A mclaren 650s is a whole lot of car if u get. A good one

I’m evidently totally alone here, but the Jag is the one on that list that jumped out at me as one I feel I could reasonably trust.

I’d likely get a hellcat instead, though. I know it is nowhere near the same class but it is the best value for raw power. For something more balanced, maybe a ZL1 camaro.

I’ll take MB AMB GT among those options. If reliability is a concern, Lexus LC500 is an option. Porsche 911 will be on my list as well but may regret maintaining it

but that would be a good decision

where you seeing LC for under 60k? Would have to have a ton of miles I would think. Also interior on those are so blah compared to most of the other cars listed here. I’m sure they’re super reliable and a good buy to avoid maintenance and depreciation

Was this list inspired by the latest Grand Tour episode, ā€œSand Jobā€? Worth a watch.

Perhaps you can find a CarMax F-TYPE R with a warranty.

I seen a few on cargurus for 50s with about 50k miles on them. You’ll likely be able to put 200k on the engine and tranny without much issues. Personally the exterior looks better than most listed here in my opinion. Interior is good looking other than the crappy infotainment system.

My issue was I was searching convertible only. Theyre all in the 70s. For that price there’s too many other options imo

Agree. These will drop into the 40s likely this year and will be one of the best bang for the dollar. Convertible came out few years later, they will follow the coupe soon enough.

IMO, its one of the best interiors out there for a non-supercar/ultra-luxury. I know our prices are all over the place in this thread, but what mentioned car is better near the same price?

Benz gt in the 70s. 911s (older though) but still prefer the interior of a 2015 to it. I don’t like Lexus infotainment at all, that’s prob why I’m bias on those. I’d even take an older r8 over the LC and they can be in that price range as well. I8s are getting cheap too if you want the exotic look. I don’t hate their interior but it’s nothing special, prefer it still to Lexus infotainment and gauges. Reliability aside, obv Lexus wins there.

I don’t like any of the British cars he mentioned interiors either or Maserati. I see the interior more than the exterior of a car so that’s important to me.

Also why I’m still driving a cheap tundra. I don’t like current exotic/luxury pricing. I think there’s going to be a good amount of depreciation ahead and I’m not willing to take the risk to buy a 80-100k car that could need unexpected maintenance and still depreciate $20k in a year. I’ll take the risk of maintenance if I know I can drive the car for a year and not lose much in depreciation. Better off leasing if that’s the current situation and just making a 1500-2k/mo payment and have something brand new.

That trackpad is straight :poop:. I agree with you there. I was considering a LC500 back in 2022, but the trackpad and pathetic trunk space pushed it away. Otherwise, I loved it. I needed a daily, so those were deal breakers. I’d definitely consider a future used 2024 as a second fun car, since they updated the infotainment.

To each their own on the others. I’m a 911 lover and would take one any day over the LC500, but I still think the LC500 interior is better.

I’m hoping by this time next year, dealers have rotated through current used inventory. There still seems to be a large delta in trade-in value vs list price, so that tells me they think the market is falling and need some buffer in order to not lose money.

The 24 refresh is def much better imo but 120k

I was considering a 2003-2007 viper to scratch my manual trans itch in the 40-50k range. I can’t see much depreciation on that

If he’s the Volvo Guy then he can look into this…
