Used luxury cars: Help me make a BAD decision

To be honest I really miss my 360 spider. The motorcycle is fun but really only to and from work.

This is more for fun and an ev while fast, handles like a boat and has no engine noise.

B or D from the options. Why not a killer SL lease? Or stretch your budget and get an LP560 which would be more similar to your 360 experience.

If it has to be one on the list I would go with the amg gtc. But I’d look into a 911 or r8 instead.

These suggestions rock. I have never seriosly looked at the r8/LC or 911. Time to get searching

Yea I was gonna say, why not a LC/ISF/GSF/IS500?

If you want to go R8, see about one still under warranty CPO perhaps and get it with AudiCare.

C8 Corvettes are starting to come down to a very reasonable price point too.

What kind of engine noise?

If you want an F1 style screamer then a BMW V10 is the closest a road car gets with aftermarket exhaust, IMO.

If you want a “cammy” lumpy idle then obviously a big displacement N/A V8

My buddy had a Maserati and I’ve ridden in it many times including in many tunnels but for all the talk of it being a “Ferrari derived” engine it just isn’t rev happy enough and no exhaust can change that.

The Jag spits a lot but that’s its only party trick.

The Ferrari engine is a flat plane crank and the Maserati engine is a cross plane crank. They are related but the firing order makes the noise.

The best exhaust I’ve ever heard is the LFA. I’ve had boht OHV and OHC American cars and the difference is massive. The German cars I’ve heard sound good too like the old s6 with the NA v10. The Maserati v6 hasnt really moved me but the v8 sounds pretty good and the body lines chef’s kiss. The Alfa has a similar motor to the california T I think.

The GSM down the road has a c8 z06 and every nice day when he leaves work I hear it go by

The exhaust (or more accurately, the header design) makes a huge difference here too

Yeah but those are so unreliable, even by the low standards being discussed here.

Isnt that the same motor in the R8?

Ask anyone who had a C6 S6 and they’ll probably tell you it was a lemon.

Those things are so cheap compared to E60 M5s and W211-212 E63s for a reason

If the GT was daily-able I would have gotten one instead of an M550. I like them more than the 911s I’ve driven.

Also, the doors are enormous for many garages, and it sits really low.

What do you drive right now? Hunnndaie iconic?

I agree with the 911 being a great choice, if looking to avoid potential repairs and nauseating resale. I’d love to have one myself but the prices are so damn high now (and have been for some time). I do still “shop” every now and then. Waiting for the stars to align. :pray:t3:

LC prices have been dropping steadily over the last 6 months, you can find a great deal now. Phenomenal car, phenomenal sound.

I’m extremely biased, I’ve had two different GSFs, my current is a 2017 and it is completely trouble free. These powertrains do not have any gremlins whatsoever. I can bounce it off redline all day, absolutely abuse it in the corners, and know that nothing will happen as long as I’m dutiful about its maintenance. The exhaust at baseline is good, but can really be opened up with a simple midpipe or catback if that’s what you want. The induction noise is something to behold though inside the cabin.
