The word brownout just made me shudder

Every year I hear that the grid is on its last legs with massive rolling blackouts. Definitely some crying wolf.
In any case in NY here we have an EV and a phev, which we may be replacing with a hybrid next month. I still consider but have a very difficult time getting on board with another gas-only car. Not only are running costs terrible but I have a major pet peeve with start/stop technology and how despicable it is in every ice vehicle I’ve ever been in. hybrids handle it far better because they have enough energy capacity to keep all the systems running, and they all have a much smoother engine-start event.
