(UPDATE) Signed 2021 Chevy Bolt Premier, $244 first payment and $244/mo

I guess I forgot to mention this was back in March, in CA.
So I do miss two CA rebate and Bay area rebate but NYSERDA rebate alone is $2,000 so I thought I could get close to this.

June is different for sure than this March article. You need to figure out the incentives you qualify for which is pretty tough to do without talking to a dealer. Any quote with a detailed breakdown will help. I had a dealer which told me my incentive amount I qualified for. Even though I didn’t think his deal was good, that number helped me tremendously once I plugged it into the leasehackr calculator. I knew with a small dealer discount I’d have a great lease and used that as my guideline for talking to other dealers.

Most dealers are going to want to keep all the extra profit from the rebates. If after using the calculator to determine how much discount is necessary for the lease deal you want, your job is to go find that dealer.

Different state in a different month with different programs makes it completely irrelevant.

Yes, true, but I still wanted to try this article as a guide.
I think I have all the qualifying rebates in my hand - I just need little more discount from MSRP.
Not easy but will try!

True, but wanted to get somehow little closer to it.

The problem is you took an irrelevant data point to the dealer and said ā€œI want this dealā€. All you ended up doing is fouling your chances with that dealer by making yourself out to be an ignorant consumer. Referencing an irrelevant article in your negotiations hurt your position.

If you want to be successful in getting a good deal, it really helps to use real data to put together the real numbers.

The way to replicate this deal is be an informed shopper like the article author was. Know what incentives you qualify for, then go determine what a great deal could be.

I had to talk to a dealer to determine the exact dollar amount of the incentives since not everything was available to me online at Chevy’s website or Edmund’s forum.

Hmm this guy writes 107,but gives no real meat behind it. (11k of rebates is not enough)

And that’s why I am asking here, to see what I’m missing  I’ll be more realistic!

I do think I have probably better rebates if I combine everything - it’s just that the market changed and the stock is running so low and cannot get any discount on MSRPs.
Even last year, I could see easily on 10% discount on MSRPs… Well I guess time changes.
I guess I will have to decide on the number I can be happy.

I believe the hidden meat is the discount in MSRP… because rebates are set and we cannot change that.
Well the market has changed… I guess I just need to accept that

Incentives vary by region, but you also likely have different rv/mf from March. You also have different tax situations.

Figure out what a Bolt will cost you at 10%, 5%, 0% discount. If any of the numbers make sense pursue the one that does and looks feasible.

I got 5% off just a couple days ago so I think with the right dealer it’s possible to get a discount.

I have been asking for 5% but no one really once to do it… ugh.
I think 2 days ago was 6/1, and looks like that was the last unicorn deal day, so good for you!
I guess I just need to know where to stop. Thanks for the advice

Should be easier to get 5% today than on June 1. Many dealers I talked to saw the crazy low payment spitting out and took the profit themselves (quotes for ~$210/mo). In my area 5% today I think would be $242, and 0% is $300. At $300/mo they aren’t going to be flying off the lot so some dealers will be motivated to get the older 2021s off the lot.

F.O.L.P. is real

The other best offer I have now is $249 (MSRP $39,890) with 0% seller discount, so I guess I have pretty ok deal.
I wish I lived in an area with more Bolts in stock.

I agree FOLP is a thing, but in this case the low payment spit out of their desking software so they just reduced the discount (+profit) until the payment seemed more ā€œnormal.ā€ I didn’t float a number to them, just asked for the 5% + the incentives.

two sides of the same coin

That’s actually encouraging if you are correct that’s indeed 0%, because if you could find a dealer to do 5% you’d be around ~$185/mo
