We just signed a lease on 2019 RDX Advanced today; however after going over numbers i think we got ripped of by dealer. I tried to verify using various calculators and numbers either don’t match or make no sense.
So basically Dealer offered $5k off MSRP and $1k rebate and looks like we got it. Also they promised to give us 14k for the trade in (paid out in full). However looking at paperwork now i think they only gave us $11 915.
Am i correct or am i missing something? And if correct what actions can we take against dealer.
OK, Thanks for quick replies! at least i know they did not scam us on trade in.
Jon how bad of a deal we are taking about?
In regards to 14k down after reading forums i think it was not a good idea. Have if i had known before i could have influenced the decision a bit, but it wasn’t really my decision.
If the calculations are correct you trade-in $14,000 net? And then are still paying $283.42/month for 36 months?
If this is correct, you got hosed. Essentially you will be paying $24,xxx over the course of this lease. Since you already signed and took delivery of the car, there is no recourse. Just take it as a learning lesson and learn leasing 101 so next time you are more prepared.
They didnt scam you on trade but they smoked you on that lease. 671 a month for a Rdx it better come with a chauffeur. Why would you trade in a paid off vehicle and use it as a down on a lease on 42k RDX. Especially on an aged unit. Enjoy the vehicle for the next 36 months drive it like you stole it
I have to ask the obvious question here. If you are aware of this site why are you asking after you signed the deal when you can’t do anything about it?
According to Edmunds, there is a $3400 rebate so $2400 of your discount is from AFS. Essentially, you got almost no discount. I’d be curious what your trade was actually worth but it doesn’t matter now.
This is a flat out terrible deal, but you signed the lease contract. If you’ve taken delivery there is nothing you can do. You can’t transfer out of an AFS lease so the only way to get out is to sell the vehicle third party.
I wouldn’t described what happened to you as being “ripped off”. Because that implies fraud or dishonesty and it’s not clear that applies here. I will say that is a pretty terrible deal for the car you are getting.
Yes! There has to be some onus on the consumer to educate yourself. There is zero excuse nowadays to not be armed with the facts. The dealer did nothing technically wrong here. It is not an obligation to give any discount off of MSRP. Hell, they could sell for over MSRP. So the real question is did you get a bad deal. Yes, you got a terrible deal. Enjoy the car, live and learn and next time ask before you sign the deal.
You didn’t get ripped off, you might have done a few things differently, but first off the MSRP is closer to $45k not $41, Acura doesn’t have huge incentives on the rdx compared to other makes. And the money factor is higher than it was on past rdx. So when someone says you could have other cars for that price, is not helpful because they don’t know the situation or the hidden costs of the other makes. Trolls like that should have there posts deleted.
Next time try to have your trade appraised independently by Carmax or Vroom. And no need to put all 14k down on the lease. What car did you trade in? Frequently the dealer makes a killing on the trade-in as well…
There is nothing wrong with saying there are other cars for the money since for that effective monthly price (671) there is a wide range of options from larger SUVs to base level sportier sedans.
Enjoy the RDX … and plan on asking before the deal next time…
