I leased an acura tlx one year ago and have regretted every second. I pay 475/month have two years leff. Want to go back to Lexus! Any suggestions? Payoff is 34k. Kbb values 28-32.
In south Florida.
run a quote on carvana and vroom see where they come it at. You’ll likely be upside down, question is just how much.
That’s an atrocious and absurd payment for that car, unless it’s an SH-AWD Advance.
Roll $2-$6k into a different vehicle or enjoy the TLX Ask us for help next time before you sign!
What specifically do you dislike about the TLX? Which Lexus model will you go back to>
run a VROOM quote. worked for me perfectly!
What wz2016 said…what do you miss about the Lexus (or hate about the TLX)? I’ve considered Acura in the past but I can never get over the interior design…have never driven one.
The KBB is the retail, I assume? Otherwise, if the $32K is the trade value I would eat the $2K to get into something you hate less lol.
My $0.02; I’m the biggest Honda fanboy evAr and IMO it’s just a boring bland letdown IF you’re a car enthusiast who likes to drive. It’s a really competent and comfortable car, SH-AWD and ELS stereo are both amazing, but it’s just soooo blah. Nothing special about it whatsoever. I had one as a service loaner for 4 months and put 10k miles on it (LOL), I couldn’t wait to get my 2011 TL back which totally outclassed it in every way. Back when the base model was in the mid 200’s zero down I still couldn’t bring myself to get one…
My guess is that he’s way more upside down than he thinks. Initial depreciation on these is pretty severe.
Agree. I was surprised to see those numbers, which is why I’m assuming the KBB values are retail.
She lol
I probably am. Just trying to stay po$itive.
what lexus did you have?
13 ES. 15 gs-f
Both leases.
Had two acuras in the early 2000’s and loved them.
Advance 36/12k
Zero down.
Lots of small things. Biggest issues is the jerky transmission in low speeds. Common issue I’ve read. Just not refined inside. Lots of rattles.
Yeah the ZF 9AT really sucks. Sorry you’ve been so disappointed by it. Personally I would get a service loaner arranged, drop it at the dealer, and refuse to pick it up until all the issues are fixed. If your dealer won’t help, find a different dealer. You could also try to get them to good Will a buyback and get into a TLX 4cyl, which IMO is a way nicer driving vehicle with the DCT 8AT.
In my opinion the TLX is a HUGE step down from the 09-14 TL. My 2011 had 182k miles when I sold it and zero rattles or other quality issues. The brand new TLX service loaner that I had for months rattled like a 90’s Civic and just felt cheap and depressing.
Like others have said, check carvana/vroom/carmax/local Acura dealers for trade in value.
I’m not sure that is good advice. There aren’t necessarily any “issues” to speak of, from the info provided. The car having a clumsy transmission doesn’t mean that there is something the dealer can fix. That would be like one of us taking a vehicle to the dealer because the engine isn’t powerful enough.
2009-2014 TL was arguably one of the best cars Acura build in the 2000s. My dad still doesn’t forgive me for totaling it (no one got hurt except a fat pole and I walked away without a scratch). He bought a 2016 TLX v6 after that and within a year gave it to my sister because he just couldn’t get through 100 miles a day commute with it. We were at 145k miles on TL, and to this day are still looking for any low mileage steals for 2014 model. Haven’t found anything yet in CA - so he’s now leaning towards 2016 ES350.
The funniest thing is the TL design was considered ugly by many but I loved it…
That’s not true at all or a relevant analogy. A jerky transmission is a quality issue. Rattles are a quality issue. The dealership should work for the customer to address these issues. If not, involve Acura corporate. Acura takes customer satisfaction very seriously, so OP should give them an opportunity to make things right by her.
Jerky transmission, yes, but it could just be her saying that the transmission sucks; that is the case where the dealer can’t do much about it. Rattles can be fixed if they are obvious and the dealership is able to diagnose.
