Has anyone ever turned in a Nissan lease early? We have 3 payments left on a rogue and no longer need the vehicle. When I called Nissan Financial to ask about returning early they acted as if they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. They were so confused which only made me more confused about it.
Essentially, all I want to know is, can I drop the car at a dealer and pay my remaining payments + dispo fee and be done with it? Or do I need to just keep it parked and pay my payments as normal?
Anyone have any experience returning a lease early?
You may want to call your local Nissan dealer and ask if they will accept a lease turn in, explain that you are grounding it early and that you understand that you will be responsible for the remaining payments and disposition fee, if any. You also might want to schedule a lease end inspection too, so there’s no surprises on your final bill either.
THANK YOU. I wasn’t sure if I could go through the dealer or if I needed to do everything through NMAC and I can’t seem to find much information on it.
I will give the dealer a call. Appreciate the help!
You won’t actually pay when you ground it. NMAC will send you a bill within 30-60 days with the final 3 payments due, along with the dispo fee + any damages.
Should the dealer buy the car from NMAC after you ground it, you won’t (shouldn’t) have any remaining fees, with the possible exception of the 3 remaining payments (depending on what they buy the car from NMAC for) so keep your fingers crossed.
Interesting. So there’s a small possibility I wouldn’t have to pay the dispo if I just dropped it off to the dealer?
I tried live chatting them after I posted here and they gave me an amount that I need to write a check to Nissan for to terminate the lease early which includes my remaining payments and the dispo fee. Then they said to schedule a required inspection. Not sure why the person I talked to on the phone acted like they had no idea what I was referring too.
I have no problem with them just billing me but I should check with the dealer first and see if they allow grounding it early?
They really don’t care if you turn it in months earlier or on time, what they care about is occupied parking space on their lot while bank picks it up. You don’t need to mention to them that is early turn in, regardless their primary objective is to sell you another car.
Right, which is an early termination of the lease term. The contract usually will have something to say about fees, if any, charged for an early grounding.
That isn’t correct. You are not terminating the lease early if you pay for your entire amount owed. You are completing your contractual obligations. You can have 2 years left ,pay it all and return the car. Why would the captive care if you give the car back early as long as you pay it off? It is actually better for them.
Nissan FS professing not to imagine a customer wanting out of their Nissan lease early? That is some Oscar winning acting right there.
Good advice. Don’t point out to the dealer you are trying to ground it that it’s early and if they ask you serviced it there or leased it there. Mmm hmm sure did.
