Trailer Hitch- Leave it?

Lease ends in 3 months. I had a U-Haul trailer hitch installed (for carrying bicycle) early on. If I turn in the car (Stelvio) at the end of lease WITH the hitch, does that cause a problem for me?

Check the install, on a lot of vehicles they have to cut some of the bumper cover to install. If that is the case, you will have to leave the hitch on, or there will be a hole where it once was. I would remove any decals, etc. from the hitch that may draw attention to the fact that it is not OEM, but to many, an added hitch would be seen as a benefit.

I got a great price of $350 for the hitch installed, but I had no idea they would cut away (without my permission) a section of the black plastic undercover (not the bumper cover). If the hitch was removed, you would notice the underside cover section missing - looks like it was hacked away with a sawsall.

I have no further use for the hitch. I also thought it would be perceived as a bonus to leave it. Other than the hack job, it’s a very professional looking installation.

THANKS for taking the time to offer your feedback.

No problem! They did the same thing to the cheap Pathfinder lease we picked up last year. You can clean up the bumper cover with a box cutter and some sand paper and I doubt anyone would give it a second thought at turn in. Good luck!
