Anyone have recommendations for a good traffic ticket law firm that deals with speeding tickets in Fayetteville, WV ?
Was on my road trip and 14 year clean record got dinged bad by this cop who was I guess just doing his job lol. Got off the main freeway and was on at 84 mph on a 65 mph limit on a smaller highway (US-19) literally after a 9 hr drive day 4 mins left to reach hotel.
I usually search online and find the one closest to the court 
most times work well. Good luck
It looks like Fayetteville has one judge for municipal court and one for circuit court.
Depending where you have to go for the appeal, the good ole boy method would be to try and find a lawyer who is either connected with the judge on LinkedIn or has other social/professional connections on LinkedIn. Some online stalking might find a lawyer on the judges bowling team or that they go to church together.
Any local lawyer is good, but the more connection with the judge the better.

The LinkedIn method is really interesting. Have you ever used this? I’m connected with a few judges on LinkedIn that I am fairly certain wouldn’t piss on me if I was on fire. But I’m also connected with another couple that I have strong relationships with.
You are likely going to get a bunch of mail from law offices trying to get your business. They monitor tickets. I got a speeding ticket over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel once and got about 12 mailers. I would take those mailers and do some google searches to find any real (ie not ai generated) reviews. Then call them and ask them a bunch of questions. If they treat you well, you will be ok. It’s just a speeding ticket, and the prosecutor (if there even is one in this Municipal Court, otherwise the cop), doesn’t want to deal with it anymore than you do. In my experience, in most jurisdictions, you can usually plead down to some kind of traffic signals offense or similar. Unless you have some kind of crazy driving/criminal record they decide to check since you’re out of state.
Thanks for the input @Frankenbrew. So I was expecting the same with mailers coming in but since, Im out of state they dont really send them out (who knows). I tried to search online and couldnt make out much but using chatgpt, tried to hit a few traffic attorneys up. One replied and quoted a $950 fees and none of the others have replied.
I reached out to the PD that wrote out and their clerk said that either appear in court in person on the date or pay it. No other choice lol. I asked if I could submit a letter requesting a lesser charge as I have done it in the past (14 years ago in Texas) where they just asked me to send a letter in and then pay the fine and they dismissed the charge.
I will keep checking on options as i do have some time till 1st week of August. Hopefully find a resolution.

That is surprising, the last time I got an out of state ticket (FL, illegal U-turn, 
) I was littered with mailers at my home address in NC.
Yup I got this ticket back on 19th of June. Its almost a month and nothing has showed up in my mailbox. But yes it is a FL thing, we get like 10 a day if God forbid you get a ticket lol.
My experience is in Virginia with its somewhat infamous reckless driving misdemeanor charge if you are going 20 MPH over the speed limit. It is absolutely a revenue grab by these small counties as well as a give back to the local bar since to get the ticket reduced from a misdemeanor to a traffic infraction you really need a local lawyer present.
On the Chesapeake Bay Bridge front, I was once at a wedding in Northampton County and a guy driving down from Northern Virginia in a rental car and got pulled over going 60mph in a 35mph in what is definitely a speed trap. Police officer took his license and impounded the car. Fortunately one of the most prominent lawyers (which is NOT saying much) in Northampton County was at the wedding. The only punishment the dude faced was his legal bill plus an extra charge to have someone drive the car back to the Avis lot at the Newport News airport.
As noted above, I could be wrong but I strongly suspect there is some collusion between the local bar and the cops. They probably want you to pay a local lawyer plus a fine before they resolve the issue.
Good points. I generally agree on the speed trap issues and a revenue grab. I don’t necessarily agree that its a give back to the local bar, because I’ve never seen Police interested in making me any money (back when I did crim work at least, employment lit is a whooooole different story).
Funny story about the wedding. I was actually going to a wedding too and got some version of reckless driving, although I forget exactly what it was called. Was in a rental mustang and the cop called me “boy” several times which was super fun. Interestingly, I had just taken the bar a month before so I was feeling cocky as young attorneys do. I had time before my clerkship and went down there with a stack of arguments, and the officer thought I was a lunatic, which I was. But he didn’t want to deal with my lunacy.
I had called some of the mailers and the firms quoted me 450 bucks for them to appear on my behalf and get me a charge (don’t recall the name) that wouldn’t have any points, but would be another couple hundred dollar fine. I did better myself, and you may be able to as well (although you may not want to travel back there).
