Hey all, Totally new to leasing. I’ve always purchased and will want to buy at the end of the lease. I’m interested in the 3rd gen Tacoma so I’m running out of time with the 4th gen on the way. With these trucks getting to be so expensive it’s hard to come up with a down large enough to get the payments in my budget with a straight purchase. I realize I’ll be paying more in the long run Seems like leasing a Toyota is just going to be brutal right now. MF is .00405. So… 9.72% correct? I’ve got excellent credit so I kinda balked at this rate. Here’s a couple offers I’ve received. Would I be posting in the “Worst Leases” thread if I moved on one of these? Thanks in advance!
That first offer is borderline criminal
The first thing you need to do is lose their number. Conversations with this dealer are done. Block their website. Change you GPS settings so it avoids their lot. You’re at an impasse here with them that is beyond saving.
Before you approach a new dealer, since this bridge needs burned, you need to take some time and work out what the lease on this should be. You can not effectively negotiate if you don’t know where you’re trying to get to.
Beyond the comments so far…
What type of peace of mind does the Protection Package provide, and does this only kick in if the Security Package has been breached?
[sarcasm is purely to ensure that the point is sufficiently emphatic ]
Lol… Thanks. Yeah, that offer came from Freeway Toyota of Hanford. The second is a different dealer…
That one is being sold at MSRP. One of the few dealerships that are not marking them up. Not sure there’s any negotiation to be done? MSRP seems to be as good as it gets with Toyota in this market.
Just because they’re not marking up the selling price doesn’t mean they’re not marking it up.
Look at @Jrouleau426 thread
Buy the pro…no more then msrp with no dealer ads is not difficult. I can locate one out west for you at msrp for $500 broker fee at msrp also if needed

Found almost the exact same truck as the second offer above. This one with a MF of 00.225 as opposed to .00405. It’s marked up $2500… Negotiable If they’ll drop the mark up would that MF be fair?
Just get a frontier pro 4x bro. We’re all switching to tacomas when the 4th gen is cheap to lease again
How do you like your Frontier? I briefly looked at them. I’ve driven MT Toyotas for 30 years. This is probably the last chance to get a new MT Tacoma. I’m sure the 4th gen will be a beautiful truck. Probably no manual and will that turbo 4 be a 300k plus engine?
I personally love the frontier. You being a truck guy, I think you would too. Most of the people I’ve seen here trying to get out of their frontier didn’t actually need a truck and just wanted the cheap payment.
If we’re talking for a lease (ie reliability doesn’t matter), imo it’s no competition between the frontier and Tacoma. Tacoma engine is sluggish and interior is garbage. The frontier is no TRX or king ranch, but I think is noticeably better than Tacoma in both those areas.
Would highly recommend test driving the Nissan trucks and look through this forum for what deals are possible. A one pay + MSD deal is unbeatable value.
