Have you gotten actual quotes for how much you can sell it for?
Unfortunately, no b/c I have been of the country the last 4 months. Dealers want me to bring it in. I’m looking for opinions on its value from the forum. Will be back in Texas next month.
Anyone can quote you online or over the phone. A Dealer wants you to come in like a Fish on a Hook or a Spider in it’s web.
A Sucker in hand will agree to any stupid deal if it sounds good enough. Price it out online at Carmax and Carvana to see what it’s worth
Wouldn’t they want to see the condition in person before giving a number? This is what all the Toyota dealerships told me in my area when I called them.
The the estimate form asks how many dents. If you are honest, you have a good idea of what it’s worth.
Ex : You paid $50k
The dealer consults his book and offers you 25k
But Carmax offers you 35k sight unseen (You are honest) (They have a similar book)
This tells you that the dealer is making a min of 10k off you easy.
Of course these numbers are BS, but you get the idea of how they will rip you off, and how much you will need to ‘negotiate’ to get a good value. And if they don’t play, just go to carmax.
The dealer wants you to come in, because it’s easier for them to lowball you.
Thank you for the info. Typically do flagship dealers offer better or Carmax/Caravan?
Do that part all online.
They almost always offer less, then you need to ‘talk to them’ to get more. Carmax doesn’t negotiate, so their price is the price. But sometimes Carvana beats them or vice versa
Carvana: 35,200
Carmax: 35,600
Residual: 34,794.90
What do you think? I’m assuming there are fees that will cut into the Carvana/Carmax valuations or will I get every penny of that?
I’ll check the other links @max_g provided above.
That’s a close one, you might be able to get more from a Toyota dealer, but I believe they will just bake any profit from it as a cost in your new lease.
My intention is to get another lease - BMW or Audi.
well you have the baseline trade in price right there, and if all else fails, take to carmax and the $900
