we’ve all known about GR Corolla coming but totally didn’t expect to see Toyota Crown will be launching in the US market after all. will be interesting to see where it sits in Toyota’s lineup in terms of price since the Avalon will be discontinued. RWD and possible top of line V6 hybrid option will be an interesting combination.

Crown? Why? How about the Land Cruiser GR could be could raptor alternative, people are already paying $90k for marked up raptor. Folks in Saudi have managed to put a amazing sounding exhaust sound 
The Crown will be about as successful as the Kia K900.

it should do a lot better if Toyota keeps the pricing in line with the Avalon or TLX. It should be positioned as an entry luxury mid size RWD/AWD sports sedan. its size is about the same as BMW 3 series.
It’s not the same crown. Just the use of the name.

According to the article, it’s based on the larger platform that underpins the Lexus LS and Toyota Mirai. That doesn’t suggest a 3-series sized car. And why would they cannibalize IS sales?

looks like we are getting 300hp comparing to the GR Yaris, and forged carbon fiber roof will be included in the launch edition if the leaked information is accurate.
This is going to be unbelievable to drive or drift!

I am just glad that Toyota decided to bring it to the US market. any hot hatch with 300hp, AWD and reasonably light weight with a manual is a welcome sight.
so I called and put down a deposit this morning with a local dealership advertising selling all their vehicles at msrp. 80th on the wait list though…

Every so often Toyota decides to take the proverbial “gloves” off and apparently showcase their engineering prowess and talent. Everyone remembers the LFA moment, and now they’re coming back with something similar.
Its interesting, since other mfgs are powering up their PR machines in attempt to tackle this.
Porsche just said something to the effect of 2025 SSB Vehicles…someones running scared.
