Okay, I cry uncle…still the blurb could have been better crafted, it could apply to any book on stat. I’ve always been bad at math, and had to drop stat class as I was failing it. Still needed stat for grad, so I took it at a local community college to wrap up my degree. Main takeaway I learned from the class is probably what this book details…you can make stat say pretty much anything you want. The other takeaway was that my stat prof was banned in Reno and Vegas, he was apparently an ace at keno.
$10k markup on a Ford Maverick. Just insane
Why is anyone surprised that a car that came out less than a year ago has a ton of ADM?
That was true before Pandemic.
I’m not surprised there’s ADM - what I’m surprised at is the percent ADM of the total price. On ostensibly a commodity economy vehicle. This isn’t a Supra or Type R, ffs
Nah, they always used to price them that high…thanks to Covid, they are getting that.
I seem to remember a Hyundai going for 10k over MSRP 4 months after I got mine, from the same dealership. The 10k ADM will be there even without Covid, but people are spending 10k thanks to Covid.
How about a $33,500 markup on a 2021 Sarge Green Rubicon 392
Only $19,200 on a 2021 Unlimited Rubicon and a
“bargain” $15,000 markup on a 2021 Sahara 4xe
Only an additional $199 adder for pinstripes and $599 for the Wallace Protection Package - Nitrogen Tires and an initial Auto Butler Package. The best part is this is an additional line item not part of the $33,500 “Southeast Regional Adjusted Market Value.”
Wallace Jeep, Stuart FL
I love the fancy name "“Southeast Regional Adjusted Market Value” making it look like an official and common corporate line item. And all of the vehicles are 2021s.
“Protecting the Consumer Label”
Whew, thought for a minute Wallace Auto Group was trying to fleece the public…
I have been thinking about this and it seems clear that the numbers at least for the Macan are BS. Porsche dealers are not allowed to advertise anything but MSRP or call for info and the average cost of options on a Macan is about $13k. So it is likely they are using the base MSRP of a Macan without options and comparing that to cars loaded up with $13k of options. Not saying they aren’t going for over MSRP, but their methodology is extremely flawed.
