Tips on Getting Dealers to Show the ‘Deal Sheet’

Any tips on how to get dealers to be transparent with their numbers and provide the ‘deal sheet’? So far in my research of trying to put together a deal, I’ve only gotten the simple payment sheet and not the breakdown of all lease inputs that I’d really need to do an analysis.

Obviously I can continue to press the issue with current dealers I am working with and try new dealers, but what is the standard from a dealership perspective? Try to hold all the numbers as close to the vest as they can until a potential sale goes away?

Some dealers are transparent, some are not. If you ask for the info and they won’t share it, move on to someone who will.

Or better yet, skip asking the dealer how much they want you to pay all together and put together your own offer to take to them.

Many times dealers will operate under the assumption that you don’t need or want a full detailed lease sheet. It’s much easier for them (and most customers) to just throw a monthly payment number out there. A lease sheet is pretty useless to a customer that doesn’t understand it or know how to read it. Introducing too many numbers can make things more complicated, especially for a customer who doesn’t know how they work. Honestly they best way to get the full lease sheet is to ask for it. If they won’t provide it, they are either A) Hiding something B) Afraid of being shopped around or C) Both.
